Nationalization of service of poura staff demanded

The officers and staff of different pourashavas jointly brought out a rally and formed a human chain on Saturday demanding nationalization of their services. The representatives of Gaibandha, Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, Patgam, Nilphamari, Dinajpur,Thakurgaon and Panchagar declared solidarity in the programme. A demonstration rally was brought out from Kurigram municipality and paraded main roads of the town and formed a human chain on Kurigram-Chilmari Road,in front of Kurigram Press Club. President of Kurigram poura Sangshad Hafizur Rahman Bulu, general secretary Akhtaruzzaman Rashel, President of Nageswari poura Sangshad Ali Hossain, President of Ulipur poura Sangshad Shoumendra Nath Roy, President of Lalmonirhar Akhtaruzzaman,president of Gaibandha Noor Islam and Mizanur Rahman Mintu spoke among others.
6 BNP-Jamaat-Shibir activists detained in Kishoreganj

Kishoreganj district police in a series of drivers detained 5 activists of Jamaat-Shibir and BNP from different places in the town on Thursday night Friday noon. The arrestees are Al-Amin (22) of Jubo Dal, Lokman (32) of BNP, Jahirul Islam (30) of Jamaat, A.K.M Sanaulah (40), Ameer of Jammat, Kishoreganj town, Jakarul Islam Bappi (20) of Chhatra Dal AND Md Ronok (45) , pouro councilor . Police said the arrested BNP-Jammat-Shibir men are allegedly involved with subversive activities, petrol bomb attacks on innocent people.
Agriculture Fair inaugurated in Monirampur

A 3- day long Agriculture Fair was inaugurated in Monirampur Upazila court yard on Saturday. Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and Upazila administration jointly arranged it. The main objectives of the fare is to create awareness among the farmers about the second crops cultivation like Robi and valuable fruit. Member of parliament (MP) Jessore 5 Shapon Bhattacharjee inaugurated the Fair as Chief Guest. Presided over by UNO Sharif Nazrul Islam it was addressed by MP Shapon Bhattacharjee as Chief Guest while Upazila Chairman Amzad Hosen Lavlu. Tapon Biswas Pabon, fruit grower Atiar Rahman spoke among others. Earlier, Upazila Agriculture officer Susanto Kumar Tarapdar delivered his welcoming speech. A total of 19 stalls were erected at the Fair.
BNP leader’s house attacked in Sylhet

Unidentified miscreants attacked the residence of BNP leader Dildar Hossain Selim in Sylhet city on Friday night.
The houses attacked belonged to Sylhet district BNP formar Vice-President Dildar Hossain Selim. Security guard Abdur Razzak, who was on-duty also claimed of seeing over four person around Selim house. officer-in-charge of Sylhet Kotwali police station, said law enforcers have been sent to the spots to investigate. Sub-Inspector collected evidence of explosions at Selim house, but refused to comment on the issue.
Cotton godown gutted in Sylhet

A cotton godown was burnt down in fire incident in Bagbari area of Sylhet city of the district on Friday evenning at 3 pm.
Police and fire service sources said the fire had originated from a heap of cotton godown owned by Kamal Bording and engulfed the whole godown.
On information, a fire-fighting team from Sylhet fire service station rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze with the help of locals after one and a half hour frantic efforts.
