 6000 Yaba recovered in Jamalpur

Jamalpur 35 Battalions (BGB) recovered about 6,000 pieces of indian Yaba. This was stated in a press release sent to the captain of the BGB, SM Azad recently. The Yabas worth around Tk 17 lakh 29 thousand 2 hundreds. Nayak Subedar said, during the separate patrol of the BGB team led by Khalilur Rahman and Monowarul Islam, a total of 5,764 recovered Yaba beside at the border of Baliyamari and Rowmari Catlamari in Rajibpur.
Young man arrested on charge of rape attempt in Bagerhat

A young man named Mostafa Hawladar (27) was arrested from Malopara village within Karapara Union Parishad under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district on Tuesday noon on the charge of attempt to commit rape on a girl student of grade II. The arrestee is the son of one Karim Hawladar of village Bagmara under the same Upazila. The locals said, the accused is a vendor of fruits. He used to purchase different kinds of fruits from the villages and sell them in the different markets. On the day the young man went to the village Malopa to purchase fruits and while he was returning home at noon he found the girl alone in a lonely place. Then he allured her with the assurance of giving her fruits and took her into a nearby garden where he tried to commit rape on her forcibly. Then the girl cried out loudly. On hearing the cry locals rushed to the spot, rescued the girl, caught the debauched and handed over him to the police. Md. Mahatab Uddin, Officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Model PS told, police arrested a young man named Mostafa on the charge of sexually harassing a minor girl. But no case was registered with the PS in connection with incident till the writing of this report.
World Betar Day celebrated in Rajshahi

The World Betar Day-2020 was celebrated here on Thursday amid much enthusiasm and in a befitting manner. Marking the day, officials and artists of Regional Station of Bangladesh Betar accompanied by some members of the civil society brought out a rally with the main theme of ‘Betar and Diversity’. Representatives and staff of Community Radio Padma and Mohananda also joined the rally. After parading different streets, the rally ended at Betar Bhaban where a discussion and a cultural function were held. Language Veteran Abul Hossain and Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with Hassan Akhter, Regional Director of Bangladesh Betar, in the chair. Regional Engineer Farzana Afroze, Deputy Regional Directors Sharifur Rahman and Sheuly Rani Basu and Assistant Directors Dewan Abul Bashar, Nadim Sultan and Masum Parvej also spoke. Abul Hossain said the Betar has been playing a vital role towards reaching the emergency messages to the remotest people. He also said the role of the betar is also important in terms of entertaining the grassroots people. In this country, the prime role of radio is to give a voice to people who do not have access to mainstream media and do not have the opportunity to express their views on their community development. In his remarks, Akbarul Hassan Millat said the major tasks of community radio is to promote the right to communicate, expediting the process of informing the community, assisting the free flow of information and acting as a catalyst of change and therefore there should be no exceptions locally. He urged the betar authority to air qualitative and pro-people programmes so that the target group of people can derive its total benefits.
