Agri-inputs distributed among farmers in Manikganj

Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) distributed seeds and fertilizers at a cost of Tk 1,66,50,000 among 16700 small and marginal farmers in the all seven Upazilas of the district for cultivating maize, mustard and groundnut and sesame on Sunday. The DAE sources said each of the famers received seeds for one bigha of land. They also were given adequate amount of fertilizers for cultivating these seasonal crops, they added. Of the total 6000 bighas of land were cultivated maize, 9000 bighas of land mustard, 300 bighas of land groundnut and 1500 bighas of land sesame. A total of 334 metric tons of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 167 metric tons of Muriate of Potash (MoP) were distributed among poor famers in the district. Md. Habibur Rahman Chowdhury, Deputy Director of the DAE, said list of small and marginal farmers of the district were prepared by respective union level committee for getting the agri-input.
Press briefing for foreign workers held at Sharishabari

A press briefing on jobs in abrad was held at Sorisabaree Upazila Parishad Hallroom on Saturday in Jamalpur. It was organised by the Ministry of Expatriates and Foreign Employment. UNO Shihabuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, Javed Rahim, Principal of Jamalpur Technical Training Center, Chairman of Upazila Parishad Gias Uddin Pathan, Vice Chairman Jelly Akhter, Pogaldigha UP Chairman Samsud Uddin, Municipal Panel Mayor Mohammad Ali hassain horek, journalist zakaria zahangir, nojrol islam master and Wazeda Parveen Master among others were present .
Jashore police nab two with arms

Police on Saturday evening arrested two miscreants along with a one shooter gun, a revolver and other goods raiding two places at Andha under Abhaynagar upazila in Jashore. The arrested are Kumaresh Mallik, 28 and Hiraman Mallik, 36, both of Andha under Abhaynagar upazila in Jashore.
Media wing of the police in a press release said raiding two places of the village Abhaynagar police detained the two and recovered the arms.
Man gets 3-month jail for harassing college girl
PANCHAGARH: A mobile court here sentenced a man to three months jail for harassing a college girl in Atwari upazila recently . The convict Biplob Rana, 32, is the son of late Abdur Rashid of Debipur village in Sadar upazila and excavator driver of upazila mahila vice chairman Renu Akhter. Ezar Uddin, officer-in-charge of Atwari Police Station, said that Biplob riding on a motorcycle followed the college girl on Boda-Atwai upazila road on her way to college on the day. The man tried to harass the girl when she reached Kismat Roseya area. Hearing scream of the girl, locals rushed in and caught him. However, at one stage he managed to flee from the spot. Later, police with the help of the local people detained him from Kismat Roseya area, reports UNB.
