Anti-drug meeting held in Natore

An anti-drug meeting was held on Moharaja JN High School and College premises here today to raise awareness of the adverse impact of drug addiction and make the society from abusive drug. Deputy Commissioner of Natore Md Shahariaz took part in the meeting as the chief guest. In his speech, he said youth could play an important role for the wellbeing of the country. “If they are not free from drug abuse they will not act properly.” he added. Police Super Liton Kumar Shah, president of governing body of the institution Md Zahidur Rahman, acting Principal Ashraful Islam, Sadar Thana OC Kazi Jalaluddin and Inspector for the Department of Narcotics Control Lutfur Rahman, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Giant ray fish caught in Barguna
BARGUNA: A giant ray fish, weighing about 400-kilogram, was caught by the fishermen in the Baleshwari River of the district on Friday. The fish, locally called Shaplapata, was brought at Patharghata BFDC Fish Market this noon. The giant fish that was caught in Padma area of the river had been sold out at Taka 63,000 at the fish market, reports BSS.
Innovation fair ends in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: A two-day ‘Innovation Showcasing Fair-2020’ ended at Rajshahi College auditorium hereon Saturday afternoon with the main call of making the existing public services easier for welfare of the service-receiving public in general. Ministry of Public Administration and Commissioner Office of Rajshahi division jointly organised the divisional level event projecting and displaying most of the public service related innovations and ideas. More than 24 district and upazila level offices and institutions from all eight districts under the division showcased various information and documents related to public service delivery and necessary process of getting those easily after the best uses of information and communication technologies in 24 stalls. Commissioner of Rajshahi division Humayun Kabir Khandaker and Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration Mujibur Rahman addressed the closing session as the chief and special guests respectively with Additional Divisional Commissioner Moyeenul Islam in the chair. Deputy Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration Dr Muhammad Hossain and Principal of Rajshahi College Professor Habibur Rahman also spoke on the occasion. Humayun Kabir Khandaker attributed that the country has been advancing towards development quickly as a result of easing the public services. He also urged upon all officials and staff concerned to reach the services to doorstep of the grassroot people located in remote and hard-to-reach areas after the best uses of ICT and innovations. Humayun Kabir said all the service-delivery officials and staff should be more responsive and dynamic so that the public in general can derive the total benefits of public services. He said Bangladesh is now talking about Digital Bangladesh under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who has taken its IT sector to a new height. On the occasion, three of the participating institutions were awarded as recognition of their appreciable projection of new ideas related to easing public services, reports BSS.
