A good number of clients on Tuesday noon blocking road in front of Barisal B M College demonstrated against cheating of quick rich fund named Bikash Multipurpose Cooperative Society (BMCS) led by an AL leader. Rana Talukdar, one of the cheated client participated in the demonstration against cheating of BMCS , alleged that the organisation collected huge funds from the clients alluring about giving high interest rate for deposit and low rate for distributed loan under easy terms and conditions including return of deposit with profits against a short notice. Former BM College Student Union vice and upazila Awami League president and present district AL leader Anwar Hossain as founder president instigated the fund collection in 2005. In the mean time BMCS collected more than hundred cores from the grass root level investors including Tk 2 lakhs from Rana Talukdar, Tk 6 lakhs from Bishu Ghosh and six hundred others. However since last two-year BMCS stopped giving any interest, profit to the depositors, investors. Rana alleged. BMCS meanwhile claimed that they have good relationship with local journalists, police, RAB, administration and government officials.
WP office ransacked, 8 activists injured by AL in Barisal
Workers Party office was ransacked and 8 activists were injured in the attack of Awami League activists at Sarbahara-prone Agorpur union under Babuganj upazila of Barisal district. The incident happened at about 10:00 pm on Friday night after WP activists held a rally protesting fish farming of AL activists by blocking river channel.
WP lawmaker Advocate Sheikh Md. Tipu Sultan acknowledging the facts of attacking and ransacking WP office said a protest rally against that attack held on Saturday afternoon at Agorpur. This protest rally was addressed among others by Sheikh Md. Tipu Sultan, WP lawmaker, Prof. Nazrul Huq Nilu, T M Shahjahan, Shantiranjan Das, Prof Isahuq Sharif, Enayet Karim Faruk, Kazi Shah Alam, leaders of central, district and other units of WP. Luthful Kabir Sabuj, injured secretary of Agorpur union WP, about the AL-led attack on their party office and activists, said they held a rally in front of union WP office at Agorpur Bazaar on Friday afternoon.

Among others , English Enhancement Project Director Irene Graham, English teacher and trainer Chathy Crawford, rotarian Dr. Zakiul Islam Faruque, Rotarian Dr. Kashem Ali, Rotarian Principal Mahbubul Alam Mithu, Rotarian Principal Monowarul Islam, President elect Rotarian Abdus Salam Bakul spoke on the meeting.
Easy bike drivers protest govt’s double standard policy

Easy Bike Drivers’ Association protested the double standard policy of the government at a rally held at Daratana in Jessore town on Monday noon. Abu Hasan Tanku, convener, Easy Bike Drivers’ Association, M Shahin, joint convener, Shahidul Alam and Mozammel Haque spoke the rally. Earlier, a procession paraded the town. In the rally, the speakers said the government has adopted double standard by imposing some barriers on plying of easy bikes on road after giving permission of import of the vehicle. ‘ On one hand the government is pouring taxes in the treasury and on the other it imposes barriers on plying of the vehicle on the roads’, they added.
Lawyer stabbed in Sylhet

A lawyer has allegedly been stabbed by miscreants near Sylhet Judge Court area on Sunday. The injured is Advocate Foyez Ahmed, hailed from Lamapara of Shibganj in Sylhet city. The reason behind the attack could not be known immediately. Jasim Uddin, a relative of the injured lawyer, said two unidentified miscreants stabbed Foyez from back when he was on his way to home from the court around 1:45pm on Sunday. He was rushed to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet immediately, he added. Emergency medical official of the hospital Dr Khairul Islam said he is out of danger.He is now under orthopedic department of the hospital for further treatment, he added.No report was filed with the police station till filling of the report at 4:30pm.
