6 held with Yaba tablets in Jashore

Jashore police, in several drives, arrested 8 people along with 4,000 pieces of Yaba pills, Tk 2 lakhs and a knife. The arrested are Mahmudur Rahman Liton, 27, his wife Arefin Akhter Juin, 20, of Mohonpur in Satkhira sadar upazila, Shahadat Hossain Natai, 32 of Shankarpur and Golap Hossain, 25 of Sujalpur village, both under Kotwali police station, Rabiul Islam, 32, of Bhaberber under Sharsha police station, Jashore and Shahabul of Sharsha upazila in Jashore along with the drug, money and knife. The six were arrested from Jashore sadar upazila and Sharsha upazila on January 7 and 8, said Salah Uddin Sikder, additional super indent of police at a press briefing at police office (not police station) on Thursday noon.
One held with Yaba tablets in Rangpur
RANGPUR: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested an alleged top listed drug trader with 1,760 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets from Madarganj Bazar in Pirganj upazila of the district on Saturday evening. “On a tip off, a special operational team of RAB-13 raided the area, seized the Yaba tablets, two mobile phone sets and arrested the drug trader,” said a press release issued here by Media Officer of RAB-13 Major Galib Muhammad Natikur Rahman said on yesterday. The arrested drug trader is Md. Alamgir Hossain alias Bari Mandal, 50, son of late Abu Tayeb Mandal of village Ekbarpur Dakshin Para in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur. During interrogation, the arrested person admitted that he had been leading a drug traders’ syndicate and patronising trading of drugs and narcotics substances in the area for a long time. “After filing a case in this connection against the arrested person, the elite force handed him over to Pirganj police station today,” the release added, reports BSS.
Handloom, Cottage Industries Fair begins in Khulna
KHULNA: A month-long handloom and cottage industries fair-2020 began here =on Sunday with the call for bolstering economic condition of the region through revival of handloom and cottage goods in the region. Police Nari Kallayan Samity (PUNAK) organized the fair at Police Club Ground in Shantidham mor of the city. A spectrum of locally produced handloom and cottage industrial goods including leather products, jute-made products, processed agricultural products, electrical and electronic goods, clothes, design and fashion wares and other products are being displayed in the fair at around 50 stalls. Fair organizer committee mentioned there is a need for holistic approach towards revival of the handloom and cottage industries. They said ensuring business-friendly atmosphere is very important to encourage local entrepreneurs for revitalizing the sector. Time-fitting measures should be taken to revive the region’s industrial sector including the cottage industries as these play a vital role in the economic development. The fair will remain open at 10am to 9pm every day till February 12, organiser added, reports BSS.
