The final match of the late Afil Uddin and Sharif Smriti Badminton Tournament was held at Ishurdi at BBC Bazar on Saturday night. The the game was inaugurated by Pakshi UP Chairman Enamul Haque. Chief Judicial Magistrate of Jessore, Shadat Hosain Swadhin was present as Chief Guest. Dina Mites Club President Sohag presided . Shamimur Rahman, Dean of Rajshahi Technology University, President of Jatiyo Sangbadik Society, Touhid Akhter Panna, Mojibul Islam Pintu, Engineer Rashidul Alam, Azam Kundu, Ram Kundu. Rana, Mostafizur Rahman Dora, Nazmul Islam, Sohel Rana, Yadunabi, Sromik League President Iqbal Haidar, Jubo League President Anwar Hossain and former president of Bangladesh Chhatra League Masudur Rahman were present . The Super Kings Squad Club defeated The Young Star Club by 15-14 points in the overall game played under Sagar Ali. Later, guests give away prizes to the winners.
Founding Anniv of Kaler Kantha celebrated

The 10th founding anniversary of The Kaler Katha, a national Bengali daily of the country was celebrated here in a befitting manner on Friday morning under the auspices of Kaler Kantha Shuvo Sangha and its (Kaler Kantha) Bagerhat district based correspondent Bisnu Prosad Chakrabarty. On the occasion , a colourful rally that was brought out from Bagerhat Press Club premises paraded the main roads of the district town and ended at the same venue. It was led by Md. Mamunur Rashid, DC, Bagerhat and Pankaj Chandra Roy, Police Super of Bagerhat. It was followed with a lively discussion meeting held in the auditorium of Bagerhat Press Club with Prof. Mostahidul Islam (Robi), Vice-principal of Bagerhat Govt. P C College in the chair while the address of welcome was given by Prof ABM Mosharraf Husain, Bagerhat -based correspondent of The New Nation. Md. Mamunur Rashid addressed the discussion meeting as the chief guest . He wished the longevity and prosperity of the daily. Pankaj Chandra Roy, Police Super of Bagerhat addressed the meeting as special guest and said the importance of a news paper in the modern society as well as in a modern country. He also wished the longevity of the daily. It was also addressed among others by journalists Adv Md. Shah Alam Tuku, Shaikh Ahsanul Karim, Nihar Ranjan Saha, Prof. Mahfizur Rahman, Azmol Hossain, Molla Masudul Haq, M Akbor Ali Tutul, Md. Kamruzzaman and Israt Jahan.
DU student’s rape protested in MC College

Students of Murarichand (MC) College in Sylhet protested the rape of a Dhaka University student recently. The general students, including all the political organisations, went to the main gate with the procession. During this time, they also staged a protest on the Sylhet-Tambail Highway and blocked the road. Protesters demanded the maximum punishment and quickly arrested the rapist. College Principal Prof Saleh Ahmed and Vice-principal Prof Panna Rani Roy expressed their solidarity with the programme. The students also announced that they will organise anti-rape human chain on college campuses on Tuesday.
