Bagerhat District AL President seriously ill

Dr. Mozammel Hossain MP of Bagerhat Consttency-1, former Deputy Minister, President of Bagerhat District Awami League and an elderly politician is seriously ill. He was admitted to Bangabandhu Medical University on Sunday for his treatment. He is now in intensive care unit (ICU). He has been suffering from serious cardiac problems.Brave Freedom Fighter Shaikh Kamruzzaman Tuku, General Secretary of Bagerhat district Awami League and Chairman of Bagerhat Zila Parishad and Khan Habibur Rahman, Joint Secretary of the same and Mayor of Bagerhat Pourashava wished his early recovery from the illness and his long-life in a statement given on Sunday. Under the auspices of Bagerhat district Awami League and its all the front organizations a Doa Mahfil was held in its Rail Road office after Zohor Namaj where a special prayer was offered for his early recovery and long life.
Baraigram Pouro BNP Convening committee formed

A triennial Baraigram Pouro Convening committee of BNP was formed on Monday night at a meeting in Baraigram under Natore district. In the meeting, a committee of 51 members was declared by District BNP Convener Aminul Haque and General Secretary Rahim Newag. In the committee, former Pouro Administrator Adv. Shariful Islam Mukta and former Pouro Mayor Isahak Ali were slected as a Chaiman and a General Secretary respectively.
Drug peddler held with Yaba tablets in Narail
NARAIL: Police in a drive arrested a drug peddler with 500 pieces of yaba tablets from Lohagara upazila of the district early on Tuesday. The detained person was identified as Ramzan Mollah Rama, 35, a resident of Kamthana village under the upazila. Sub-Inspector (SI) of Lohagara Police Station Milton Kumar Debdas said on information they conducted a raid in Kalanghat area early this morning and nabbed Rama with the contraband drugs. A case was filed in this connection under Narcotics Control Act and Rama was sent to jail after a court order, reports BSS.
Labour electrocuted at Habiganj factory
HABIGANJ: A labour died after being electrocuted while working at Vertex Paper Mill in Bahubal upazila of the district on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Al Emran, 25, resident of Olipur village under the upazila. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bahubal Model Thana Md Kamruzzaman said Emran came into contact with a live electric wire while working at the mill around 11 am, leaving him dead on the spot, reports BSS.
3.5 lakh meters current net, 100kg Jatka seized in Hatiya
NOAKHALI: Hatia Coast guards have seized 2.5lakh meters of illegal current net and 100 kg Jatka early morning on Tuesday after conducting drives in Nalchira and Sukhchar union of the district. Hatia Coast Guard Station Commander Mehedi Hasan confirmed the incident. The official said that the current nets were destroyed by fire and the Jatkas’ were distributed to a nearby orphanage. Earlier on Monday, the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry launched ‘Special Combing Operation- 2020’ in 13 districts of the country in order to protect the Jatka and other coastal fish eggs, larvae and fries. Set to be held in two phases, the first phase of the operation started on January 7 in Bhola, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chandpur, Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Barishal, Khulna, Barguna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Munshiganj and Pirojpur. Illegal fishing instruments and current nets will be destroyed during the operation. Also, legal action will be taken against illegal net users and Jatka catchers, reports BSS.
