Woman burned to death while warming by fire
THAKURGAON: An elderly woman was burned to death while warming herself in a fire at Bhomradaha village in Pirganj upazila on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Mamita Bewa, 72, of the village. Tariful Islam, project implementation officer of the upazila, said the incident took place around 7:30pm when the victim was warming herself by a fire set beside the bed. The curtain, at one stage, caught fire which later engulfed her, leaving her dead on the spot.
The upazila parisad provided Tk 10,000 as assistance for her burial, he added, reports UNB.
Training on agri product processing tech ends

Postharvest Technology Division (PHTD) of Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI) , Gazipur, organized the day long training on “preparation and processing of 100% guava natural jelly and guava and pineapple mixed natural jelly at seminar room of Regional Horticulture Research Station (RHRS), BARI at Shibpur Upazila in Narsingdi on Tuesday under the project “Agricultural Product Processing Technology (APPT) Development” with the financial assistance of the Asian Food and Agriculture Cooperation Initiative (AFACI), Rural Development Administration (RDA), Korea. The program has been organized aimed at training up the people to increase the income of farmers, communities and villages through the quality improvement of newly developed or existed products by applying the safe and natural product processing technology to agricultural product for consumption of safe and natural process products, generating income and employment opportunity of the unemployment women and youth. A total of 30 farmers including unemployment women and youth were imparted need-based training on natural guava jelly and guava and pineapple mixed natural jelly through 100% natural and bioactive approaches considering the consuming of safe and natural nutritious food for all.
Passerby killed in Fakirhat road mishap

A passerby was killed in a road mishap took place at Pagla-Shyamnagar area on Khuilna-Mawa Highway under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Nur Mohammad Faraji alias Nur Islam (40), son of one Abdul Kuddus Faraji of village Pagla under the same Upazila. Police and the locals informed , in the morning (at about 7 am) ill-fated Nur Islam was going to Fakirhat Upazila headquarters from his residence on foot and when he reached the place of occurrence a speeding truck bound for Khulna dashed him from his behind violently and fled away. As a result, the passerby was fatally injured. He was recovered from there and was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital where the physician on duty declared him dead. Another report states that motor cyclist father and the co-rider his son were seriously injured when they were dashed by a speeding truck bound for Pirojpur near at Badhal bazar on Bagerhat-Pirojpir Highway under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district on Tuesday noon. The father is identified as Nikhil Chandra Mistry (59), a UD clerk of the office of DC, Bagerhat and the son is a college student named Akash Mistry (19).
