One killed in BograBogra : A man was killed and ten others were injured when a bus slewed sideways into a canal from Fatki Bridge on the Dhaka-Bogra Highway in Shahjahanpur upzila early Wednesday. The identity of the deceased could not be immediately ascertained while the injured were confirmed to hail from the district. Police, quoting witnesses, said the accident took place at Abir Classic point of the Dhaka-Bogra Highway around 2:30am, when a Rangpur-bound bus slewed sideways and fell off the Fatki Bridge breaking its railing into a canal below, leaving the man dead on the spot and 10 others injured. The injured were admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. One of the injured passengers, Momena said the bus met the accident while trying to overtake another vehicle, reports UNB.Repairing of Raj Kumar Ghosh Road demanded Barisal Correspondent Local people formed a human chain and held rally on Sunday calling for immediate step to save and repair Raj Kumar Ghosh Road at Nabagram – C and B Road area in the city. The teachers, students, guardians of Sabera Khatun School and local people of the area organized and participated in the programme. The participants of programme said as the road situated near the highway and heavy vehicle running on that so it needs immediate repair and reconstruction. Heavy transports and vehicles also running on that road to load and unload materials of a nearby pharmaceutical company damaging the road and making movements of the students, teachers, guardians and local people most unsafe and unsecured, they added. They alleged the 600-feet long guide-wall constructed to save the road by the city corporation was sub-standard and crushed within a week and severely damaged the lane repaired at the cost of Tk.20-lakhs few months ago. BCC Mayor Ahsan Habib Kamal said he visiting the spot asked the officials to issue show cause notice against the pharmaceutical company against plying heavy vehicle on that road and also will investigate the causes of constructing sub-standard guide-wall and its crush within few days of construction.
