Two held with 34 turtles in Satkhira

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two people along with 34 turtles from Dalua Bazar area of Patkelghata in the district on Monday. The arrestees were identified as Hazra Pad Sarkar, 38, son of Pachu Sarkar and Uttam Mallik, 35, son of Mollik Mia. The Rab members caught the duo when they went to Dalua Bazar area to sell the turtles, said Md Shahinur Islam, Company Commander of RAB-6.
A case was filed against them under the Wildlife Preservation Act, he said.

Founding anniversary of Ittefaq celebrated

 The 67th founding anniversary of The Daily Ittefaq, the oldest (Bengali) national daily of the country was celebrated here in a befitting manner on Tuesday morning under the auspices of its Bagerhat District Correspondent. On the occasion a colourful rally that was brought out from Bagerhat Press Club premises paraded the main roads of the district town and ended at the same venue. It was led by by Ahad Uddin Haidar, seating President of Bagerhat Press Club and its newly elected President Adv M Mozaffor Hossain. It was followed with a lively discussion meeting held in the auditorium of Bagerhat Press Club with its President Ahad Uddin Haidar in the chair. In the address of welcome its (daily) Bagerhat correspondent Nihar Ranjan Saha explained the policy of the daily and the importance of holding the founding anniversary. It was addressed among others by journalists Adv. M Mozaffor Hossain, Prof. ABM. Mosharraf Husain, Yamin Ali, Israt Jahan, Azmol Hossain, Hedayet Hossain Lyton, Shamsur Rahman, Azmol Hossain and Shamsur Rahman. All the speakers wished the longevity and prosperity of the daily. In order to mark the founding ceremony a cake was ceremonially cut by Ahad Uddin Haidar, seating President of Bagerhat Press Club and its newly elected President Adv. M Molzaffor Hossain.

SCP celebrates founding anniversary in Rangpur

RANGPUR: Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad (SCP) celebrated its 26th founding anniversary with a fresh pledge for extending best medicare services to build a healthier and developed Bangladesh on Tuesday. Rangpur unit of SCP celebrated the day through day-long programs which included hoisting of the national and organizational flags, releasing pigeons and balloons and bringing out of a colourful procession on the campus of Rangpur Medical College (RMC). Leaders of Rangpur unit of SCP placed wreaths at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Square . In celebration of the day, a cake was cut on the RMC campus before organizing a discussion held with Member-secretary of Rangpur unit of SCP and Principal of RMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Laizu in the chair.Earlier, one minute silence was also observed in memory of former Convener of Rangpur unit of SCP and Principal of RMC late Dr. Animesh Majumder. Members of Rangpur unit of SCP Dr. Syed Mamunar Rahman, Dr. Abdul Wahab,Dr. Manjurul Karim Prince, Dr. Sarkar Moniruzzaman, Dr. Mostafizur Rahman Pavel, Dr. Kamrul Islam Apel, among others, addressed it, reports BSS.
