10-day Book Fair opens in Bagerhat

Under the auspices of Bagerhat district administration, a 10-day Book Fair was opened in local Swadhinata Udyan on Sunday evening. The Fair was inaugurated by Dr Md Anwar Hossain Hawladar, Divisional Commissioner of Khulna as Chief Guest while it was presided over by Md Mamunur Rashid, DC of Bagherhat. Among others, Pankaj Chandra Roy, Police Super, Bagerhat, educationist Prof Kamal Kumar Ghos, Ahad Uddin Haidar, President of Bagerhat Press Club, all 9 Upazila Mirbahi Officers of the district and others were present on the occasion. As many as 30 book stalls were set up in the Fair.
Farmers urged to expand mustard farming
GAIBANDHA: Agri experts at a function here have urged the farmers to expand farming of high yielding variety of mustard at larger scale to get desired output to supplement government initiatives to build the country as “sonar Bangla”. They came up with the request at a field day on mustard farming demonstration at Farazipara under Kholahati union of Sadar upazila in the district recently. Sadar upazila agriculture office arranged the function under Rangpur Division Agriculture and Rural Development project funded by government . Director General (DG) of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Krishib Dr M Abdul Muyeed addressed the function as the chief guest while Additional Director (AD) of DAE, Rangpur region Krishibid Mohammad Ali also spoke as the special guest. Deputy Director of DAE here Krishibid Masudur Rahman presided over the event. Speakers said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina achieved food security for providing the latest agri-technologies innovated by the agri-scientists with ensuring adequate supply of fertilizers, pesticides and other agri-inputs to the farmers, reports BSS.
3 drug paddlers arrested in Sylhet

Police arrested three drug paddlers along with 100 bottles of phensidyl at Gowainghat upazila in Sylhet recently. Police said that the arrestees were identified as Masuk Mia, 28, Delwar Hossain, 29, and Abdul Malik, 23, residents of the upazila. A case was filed in this connection with Gowainghat Police Station.
