One held for killing in Sunamganj

Police have arrested a woman for killing her father-in-law at Dowarabazar in Sunamganj. The arrestee is Sohena Begum, 22, wife of Shafikunnu. The incident took place around 8.30am on Saturday at Rajonpur village under Doahalia union of the upazila. The deceased is Soifuddin. According to sources, Sohena Begum was trying to commit suicide in the morning and Soifuddin tried to save her. At one stage, Sohena Begum hit her father-in-law with a stick, leaving him dead on the spot
Three drug paddlers arrested
Police arrested three drug paddlers along with 100 bottles of phensidyl in Gowainghat upazila of the district on Saturday morning. Police said the arrestees were identified as Masuk Mia, 28, Delwar Hossain, 29, and Abdul Malik, 23, residents of the upazila. A case was filed in this connection with Gowainghat Police Station.
Blankets distributed in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA : With the increasing of cold wave here, district administration has intensified warm clothes distribution to the cold affected poor people of the district last couples of days to mitigate their sufferings. Office source said District relief and rehabilitation office received a total of 51,800 pieces of blankets from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief this year to distribute those to the cold victims of the district. All the blankets were distributed to the cold-hit distressed and poor people of all the seven upazilas here under the direct supervision of upazila administration and local government bodies including social organizations, sources said. District relief and rehabilitation officer AKM Idris Ali said the warm clothes were distributed going to the door of the cold affected poor people including aged women in all the 13 unions of the upazila. Talking to the BSS, deputy commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin said he had sent a letter to the ministry seeking more blankets aimed at distributing to the distressed to mitigate their sufferings caused by cold wave, reports BSS.
Schoolboy commits suicide in Thakurgaon
THAKURGAON: A schoolboy apparently killed himself at Sarkarpara Mahalla in the district town on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Ashik Jamal, 14, son of Abed Ali and a class eight student of River View High School. Quoting family members, Golam Mortaza, officer-in-charge (operation) of Sadar Police Station, said Ashik hanged himself on the rooftop around 10:30pm. On information, police recovered the body, reports UNB.
