Research prog on dementia held in Rangpur

A research programme on “Dementia Care and Vision Support” was inaugurated with the collaborated initiative of Community Eye Care and Research Center (CECRC) Rangpur and SENSE-Cog Asia UK at Rokeya Auditorium of yesterday. The programme was chaired by Dr. M Sakel, Principal Investigator SENSE-Cog Asia UK and hosted by Md. Ferdous Alam Mukul, Chairman, CECRC. Prof Dr IracemaLeroi of SENSE-Cog Asia UK delivered her speech on proposed study of “Dementia Care & Vision Support”. In the programme Lt Col Md Farid Alam (ED CECRC), Azizul Haque (SG ASB), Dr. M R Khasru of BSMMU, Additional DIG Kamrul Ahsan also delivered their valuable speech on the necessity of proposed study. It was discussed that dementia is going to be a serious health issue in Bangladesh and it is high time to think on its care. The specialists informed that there are not much treatment of dementia but it can be controlled and taken care if diagnosed timely. Doctors of different departments, members of stakeholders, press media representatives and other personnel were present in the function.
Victory Day observed in Gafargaon

The 49th Victory Day was observed at Gafargaon under Mymensingh in a befitting manner amid festivity and renewing vow to build a happy, prosperous and peaceful Bangladesh. The day was observed through various programmes and huge enthusiasm and festivity on December 16 in order to pay rich tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to free their motherland during the nine month bloody war against the pakistani occupation forces in 1971. The day’s programme heralded with 31 gun shots at down. It was followed with the hoisting national flag atop all public and private buildings. Upazila Chairman Asraf Uddin Badal took salute at Islamia ground parade as a Chief Guest. UNO Kaji Mahbur -Rahman , Onulul Sarker OC of Gafargaon Thana , OC Shahinuzzaman Khan of Pagla thana also took salute. A march past along with physical displays by police Ansar-VDP Scouts , Girl’s guide BNCC Rovers children and students of the different educational institutions was held at Islamia Govt. High school ground. Upazla Administration accorded reception for freedom fighters and their families at the school play ground .
Training on RTI ends in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: A two-day long training on Rights to Information (RTI) Act 2009 ended at the training center of Friendship at Madnerpara under Fulchhari upazila of the district on Wednesday. Friendship, a leading NGO in the country, arranged the capacity development training for the project staff under good governance project funded by ERIKS Development Partner, Sweden and Friendship Luxemburg, French. Regional Manager of Inclusive Citizenship Sector, Nayeem Kamran, Assistant Manager of Inclusive Citizenship sector Kurigram Nazmul Hossain and Assistant Manager of the sector , Gaibandha Rezowanul Haque were among others addressed the concluding function held with Regional Coordinator of Friendship Abdus Salam in the chair. The speakers urged all staff of the project to popularize the RTI Act 2009 among the people from all walks of life for dissemination and free flow of information.
