15 villagers injured in clash over land dispute in Jhenidah

At least 15 villagers received injuries in a clash over land dispute at Maharajpur village under sadar upazila of the district on Friday noon. At the time two were arrested during the clash. Of the two groups one is led by Golam Sarwar while another group is led by Aijol Hossain of the village. Locals and police said, a long standing conflict had been prevailing over 40 bighas of land at Maharajpur village under sadar upazila of the district. Aijol had been cultivating 40 bighas of land occupying illegally of Sarwar’s land. On Friday morning Sarwar went along with his relatives to reoccupy his land. At the time Aijol and his loyalists tried to resist them and locked in to clash with local weapons like spear, ramda, iron rod, stick. During the clash 15 people have received injuries and have taken admission in Jhenidah sadar hospital and different clinics of the district town. Of them Hajrat Ali, Rahman Ali, Harun Ali and Nazrul Islam have been referred to Foridpur medical college and hospital in a critical stage.
Death anniv of Zahirul Haque observed in Gopalganj

The 36th death anniversary Md. Zahirul Haque, an educationist and footballer was observed here recently. On the occaassion, discussion meeting, milad and Doa Mahfil were held at Zahirul Haque Plaza on 18 February 18. Md. Khalilur Rhaman, Deputy Commissioner, Gopalganj was Chief Guest and Md. Mizanur Rahman, Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj was also present as special guest, Md. Imdadul Haque Chowdhury, Administrative Officer, Gopalganj Zila Parishad also present as chief patron and Alhaz Md. Sattar Kanchu presided over the function. Executive Engineer of PWDB, Gopalganj, Executive Engineer, LGED & Executive Engineer, Road Division, Gopalganj, lawyers, government and non-government officials , NGO representative, reporters, businessman and elite of the Gopalganj town were also present at the function.
Two killed in road mishaps

One motorcycle rider was killed and two others wre injured at Palardi area under Gournadi police station by hit of truck on Barisal-Dhaka highway Friday. The death victim was identified as Mustafizur Rahman Dulal, 47, son of Entajuddin, from Charmuguria under Sadar upazila of Madaripur district. Mahbubur Rahman, Gournadi highway police station officer in charge, said the three victims were injured by hit of unidentified truck at about 1:30 PM while going home after attending Mahfil at Charmonai.
Dulal succumbed to his injuries there at about 4:00 PM and dead body sent o SBMCH morgue, the OC said.
Another report adds : A nine-year old girl killed in road accident at Kauria bridge area under Hizla upazila of Barisal on Friday morning. The victim was identified as Taslima, daughter of Rahim Haoladar from Azimpur of Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal. Shawkat Anowar, officer in charge of Hizla police station, said Taslima crushed under wheels of a pickup while engaged in collecting vegetables from roadside at about 11:00 AM. The victim died at the spot and local people handed over the pickup nabbing Hossain and Rashid, driver and helper of the vehicle, to police. Dead body sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue and preparation for lodging case going on, the OC said.
