HSC examinee ‘kills herself’ in Kushtia

A Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) candidate reportedly took her own life after failing to secure pass marks in test examination in the district town on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Nupur Khatun, 17, a student of Doarka Das Women College in Harinarayanpur village. Quoting victim’s family, police said Nupur was upset over failing in four subjects in the test examination. She kept silent when her mother asked about her results. Later, her mother took Nupur to the principal’s office on Tuesday morning and asked about the results in front of her. At one stage, she drank poison that she had been carrying and fell sick. She died before she could be taken to Kushtia General Hospital, reports UNB.
Safe vegetable corner opens in Gaibandha town
GAIBANDHA: A safe vegetable corner has been opened at Puratan Bazar of the district town on Wednesday for providing safe vegetable to the consumers at reasonable prices considering their good health. An inaugural function organized by Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and Department of Agricultural Marketing was held at the Puratan Bazaar here in the afternoon. Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini addressed the function as the chief guest while deputy commissioner Abdul Matin presided over the ceremony. The chief guest said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina achieved food security in the country for taking pragmatic measures including ensuring fertilizers, pesticides and other agri-inputs to the farmers. Now, the government is working sincerely for producing nutrition and vitamin enriched and quality food at larger scale at farmers’ level, she said. Gini urged the agriculture officials and field level sub assistant agriculture officers to motivate the farmers to produce their safe food in organic way and also using the latest agriculture technologies. Moderated by additional deputy director of DAE Abul Kalam Azad, the function was also addressed, among others, by district marketing officer Moazzem Hossain and general secretary of district Krishak League Dipok Kumar Paul,reports BSS.
Convicted accused held at Gafargaon

 Police arrested one Faruk, a life convicted accused of robbery and murder at Paghla of Gafargaon in Mymensingh from Bhaluka recently .There are three cases of murder and robbery against the robber of Paghla and Trishal police station.He was remanded in custody by the court on Tuesday.Earlier, a team of Paghla police had arrested him from Sidstore area of Bhaluka . On the basis of secret information with the help of Trishal Thana police. Police said, Faruk, son of Abdul Hakim of Kaldair village of Gafargaon Upazila was involved in the robbery on a residence at Gafargaon Paghla and Trishal police station. In a 2017 robbery case , the court sentenced Farok to life imprisonment and fined TK 5000. Fayejur Rahman, Police Inspector (Investigation) of Paghla Thana said, Inter-district robber Faruk robbed at home and road at Gafrgaon, Bhaluka and Trishal. There have been three cases of robbery and murder against him at Paghla and Trishal Thana.
