6 killed after gun rampage at Czech hospital

A gunman opened fire Tuesday in a hospital in the eastern Czech city of Ostrava, killing six people, police said. “There are four dead and two seriously injured people on the site,” regional police spokeswoman Pavla Jirouskova initally told the public Czech Television.
She added the suspect remained at large, with police asking the public for help. Police have published a picture of the alleged suspect on Twitter, showing a man with receding ginger hair and wearing a red jacket.

US man who inspired ‘ice bucket challenge’ dies at 34

A former US college baseball player who helped inspire the global phenomenon known as the “ice bucket challenge” to tackle a deadly neurodegenerative disease has died at the age of 34, his family said Monday.
A one-time college athlete from the Boston area, Pete Frates’ struggle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, was one of the inspirations behind the ice bucket challenge which took social media by storm in 2014.

12-year-old girl arrested in US for threatening
to kill students

A 12-year-old girl has been arrested in the US state of Florida for allegedly threatening over Snapchat to kill other students at her school on Monday, police said.
The girl, who was not identified, posted the message on Friday and she was taken into custody on Saturday night and taken to a child evaluation center, the Broward County sheriff’s office said.
