Press Club members’ children get scholarship

Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Mayor, Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) distributed education scholarship-2019 as Chief Guest at Sylhet Press Club recently. The Press Club arranged the event to provide scholarship 30 children of its members. President of Sylhet Press Club Ekramul Kabir presided over the meeting while its General Secretary Iqbal Mahmud delivered the welcome speech. The Press Club’s publication secretary Khaled Ahmed moderated the event, while it was attended, among others, by professor of Sociology Department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Dr Ismail Hossain, Senior Vice President of Sylhet Press Club Enamul Haque Juber, Vice President M A Hannan, former vice presidents Abdul Quader Tapader, Ataur Rahman Ata and Muhammad Amjad Hossain, former general secretary Abdur Rashid Md Renu, and senior journalist Kamkamur Rajjak Runu.
Seeds distributed among farmers in Gopalganj

Agriculture Extension Department, Gopalganj Sadar Upazila started seeds distribution programme among the farmers from yesterday. Accordant to Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Agriculture Office sources a total of 15.69 metric tonnes (MT) of difficult kinds of seeds will distribute among 1,785 farmers family under Sadar Upazila, this current season. The department distribute rice, wheat, mustered, maize, groundnut, sunflower, summer mug (puls), winter mug (puls), onion seeds to the farmers under Sadar Upazila in the district, sources said, each farmer get, which quantity of seeds they can planting on 33 decimal of land (one govt. bigha). Sekender Sheikh, Upazila Agriculture Officer (UAO), Gopalganj Sadar Upazila told the New Nation. Farmers getting their seeds from Agriculture Department early time and farmers benefited from it for their farming this year, UAO said. It is mention that Ramesh Chandra Brahma, Deputy Director (DD) Agriculture, UNO and upazila level high officials including public representatives were present on the occasion. Kala Sheikh (45), a local farmer of Manikdha village under Gopalgnj Sadar Upazila said, I got Boro seeds in proper time from Agriculture officer, Gopalganj Sadar. Now we are busy for preparing our seed bad for Boro cultivation this year, Kala said.
Father, daughter electrocuted in Mymensingh
MYMENSINGH: A man and his three-year-old daughter were electrocuted at Dhopajangalia in Gouripur upazila here on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Asadul Islam, 45 and his daughter Jannatul Urmi. Kamrul Islam Mia, officer-in-charge of Gouripur Police Station, said Asadul and his minor daughter, who was on his lap, got electrocuted while giving power connection to an electric motor. Asadul died on the spot while his injured daughter was taken to Gouripur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared her dead, reports UNB.
