Sewing machines distributed among poor women

Sewing machines were distributed among poor and destitute women after one month completing training at Zila Parishad Training Center organised and funded by Kurigram Zila Parishad on Friday. Chairman of Zila Parishad and former MP Md Jafa Al was present as the chief guest while chief Executive fficer(CEO)Most Alaya Khatun was presided over the meeting. Members of Zila Parishad in all areas were also present there. A total of 33 beneficiaries took part in the month-long training under Zila Parishad, Kurigram. The speakers emphasized to be self-reliant by the training.

Under the auspices of Bela (Bangladesh Environmental Law Association), Khulna a seminar was held on “Bagerhat Shaharer Jalabaddhata: Sankat-O-Karanyo at Bagerhat Press Club Auditorium recently. Ahad Uddin Haidar, President of Bagerhat Press Club chaired the programme. The key-note paper on the topic was presented in the seminar by Mahfuzur Rahman Mukul, Divisional Coordinator of Bela, Khulna. The seminar was addressed among others by Prof Chowdhury Abdur Rab, President, SANAC -Sachetan Nagarik Committee , Bagerhat (of TIB), Shaikh Ahsanul Karim, Jewell, Prof. ABM. Mosharraf Husain, Md. Yamin Ali, Shaikh Bashir Ahmed, Area Manager of TIB , Azmal Hossain, Azadul Haq, Israt Jahan, Asaduzzaman, Farida Rahman and Shamsur Rahman. All the speakers told, unscientific water management, ill-planed construction of town protection embankment and its unscientific and ill-planned sluice gates, construction of ill-planned drainage system of the town, grabbing of rivers and canals of the district town by the powerful men and unabated filling up of ponds, tanks, reservoirs and other sources of surface water.
Seeds distributed among farmers in Bogura

Mustard, maize and potato seeds were distributed free of cost among the small and marginal farmers as the agricultural incentive program in the financial year 2019-2010 in Sariakandi upazila of Bogura district on Friday. On the occasion, a discussion meeting was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Rasel Miah at the Upazila Parishad premises while Deputy Chief Agricultural Officer Md Abul Kashem Azad addressed the chief guest. Acting General Secretary Abdul Khalek Dulu, Vice President Mamtazur Rahman addressed the special guest. Upazila Agriculture Officer, Agricultural Officer Md. Abdul Halim made the welcome speech. At the end of the seminar, one kg of mustard seeds, ten kg of dap and five kg of potash and one kg of maize seed per person and of the cultivator of one kg of wheat, 20 kg of dap and 10 kg of potash and 5 per cent of the cultivators were taken.
Man crushed to death under train wheel in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: An unidentified man believed to be 30 years old was crushed to death under the wheel of a speedy train in the district on Sunday night. Police could not identify the victim immediately. The man was crushed to death under the wheel of Dhaka bound intercity train ‘Agnibina’ in Fulbaria area at about 7.30 pm yesterday, said Officer-in-Charge of Jamalpur Railway Police Station Taposh Chandra Pandit. A case was registered with local police station.
