British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is seeking to retain power in the December 12 election that has been dominated by Brexit – a hugely divisive plan for which Trump has voiced strong support.

Paris police fire tear gas on ‘yellow vest’ protests anniversary

Paris police fired tear gas in northwestern Paris on Saturday to drive back protesters on the first year anniversary weekend of anti-government “yellow vest” demonstrations.
Clashes broke out between demonstrators and police near the Porte de Champerret as protesters were preparing to march across town towards Gare d’Austerlitz in southern Paris while police also intervened to prevent a few hundred demonstrators from occupying the Paris ring road, according to Reuters TV footage.

Serbia’s President admitted to hospital with heart problems

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has been admitted to a hospital after experiencing heart problems, his office said on Saturday. A government official who spoke on condition of anonymity told Reuters on Saturday: “The president is stable now.”
Vucic, 49, was admitted to a military hospital in Belgrade due to cardiovascular problems on Friday, a statement from his office said. A former ultra-nationalist who turned towards the European Union, Vucic became prime minister in 2014 and was elected president in 2017.

US to force hospitals to reveal rates

The Trump administration said Friday it would begin forcing US hospitals to publish their prices of care and the discounted deals they reach with insurers from 2021 in a bid to rein in health care costs. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) proposed a separate new rule that would force private insurance companies to give patients cost estimates before they see a doctor or get treatment.
