Helmets campaign begins in Raninagar

Upazila administration has launched a campaign to ensure the use of helmets of motorcyclists and passengers in the newly enacted Road and Transport Act in Raninagar, Naogaon. The operation is being conducted daily in presence of local administration and prominent people on different roads of the upazila. Following this, a public awareness campaign has been launched to ensure the use of helmets of motorcyclists and passengers at the Upazila bus stand premises on Wednesday. Upazila Executive Officer Al Mamun was present under the leadership of Upazila Parishad Chairman Alhaj Anwar Hossain Helal, Female Vice Chairman Farida Begum, Upazila Engineer Saidur Rahman Mia, Food Regulatory Officer Sirajul Islam Sarkar. During the raid, a motorbike was fined Tk 200 by a traveling court for the offense of not using some motorcycle driver’s helmet. In addition, some motorcyclists and riders who do not have helmets are immediately bought and sent to the helmet.
Disability rights, protection body meet held in Rangpur

The meeting of Rangpur District Disability Rights and Protection Committee was held at DC Conference Room yesterday. The meeting was supported by Community Eye Care and Research Center, Sightsavers and funded by UK Aid. The meeting was chaired by Md Asib Ahsan, Deputy Commissioner, Rangpur. Employment gen programme begins in Gobindaganj
GAIBANDHA: Government’s special 40-day employment generation programme for the hardcore and the seasonal unemployed people has begun in Gobindaganj upazila in the district on Sunday. The basic objective of the programme is to assist the poor, particularly the day and farm labourers of the district, for overcoming their poverty and job crisis during the lean period. Upazila Relief and Rehabilitation office sources said Taka four crore, 12 lakh and 56 thousand. have been sanctioned for the 5157 workers to implement different development projects in the rural areas of all 17 unions of the upazila. The project works include construction and reconstruction of worst roads, bridges and culverts, earth filling and excavation and re-excavation of derelict ponds and canals and removing water hyacinth from different water bodies, sources said. Each workers would get TK 200 per day as wage from the programme that would continue till starting the plantation of Boro paddy , sources said. Local Lawmaker Engineer Monowar Hossain Chowdhury inaugurated the programme by cutting earth in the premises of Kamardaha union parishad (UP) as chief guest, reports BSS.
