‘Bijoy Phool’ festival celebrated in Sunamganj

‘Bijoyphool’ (Victory Flower) is an iconic symbol for the victory of the Bangladesh War of Liberation on December 16 in 1971 as the country emerged as an independent nation on the global map on that day. The Bijoyphool festival is being celebrated all over the country. ‘Bijoy phool’ is our national flower. As Waterlily is our national flower we all should write up this flower,’ said Deputy Commissioner of Sunamganj, Mohammad Abdul Ahad. However, district administration of Sunamganj organised the programme. At that time, Additional Deputy Commissioner(Revenue) Mohammad Mokhlisur Rahman, District Secondary Education officer Md Jahangir Alom, District Primary Education officer Md Zillur Rahman, Commandar of District Freedom fighter Sangsad unit Nurul Momen, Toriqul islam along with others were also present. Cultural officer of Zilla Shilpokola Academy Ahmed Monjurul Haque Chowdhury Pavel and District Child affairs officer Badol Chandra Barman directed the programme.
IU BCL Secretary held under Digital Security Act

Rakibul Islam Rakib, General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhtra League of Islamic University Unit was arrested under the Digital Security Act-2018 by Kushtia Sadar Police Station on Friday night. Nasir Uddin, Officer-In-Charge of Kushtia Sadar Police Station confirmed the matter that Rakibul Islam Rakib was seized in a case filed by former IU BCL unit general secretary Jewel Rana Halim on November 2. Rakibul Islam Rakib (25) is a son of Rezaul Karim, residency of Kumarkhali Upazila of the Kushtia district. An audio clip of four minutes and nine seconds went viral on social media where Rakib and a former BLC leader Jubayer made allegations against Jewel Rana Halim and Amjad Hossain Raju, additional personal secretary of Kushtia-3 MP Mahbub-UL- Alam Hanif. Following the clip, On November 2, Halim filed a case with Islamic University Police Station against Rakib, Jubayer Rahman and other 7/8 fake facebook user.
Employment gen programme begins in Gobindaganj
GAIBANDHA: Government’s special 40-day employment generation programme for the hardcore and the seasonal unemployed people has begun in Gobindaganj upazila in the district on Sunday. The basic objective of the programme is to assist the poor, particularly the day and farm labourers of the district, for overcoming their poverty and job crisis during the lean period. Upazila Relief and Rehabilitation office sources said Taka four crore, 12 lakh and 56 thousand. have been sanctioned for the 5157 workers to implement different development projects in the rural areas of all 17 unions of the upazila. The project works include construction and reconstruction of worst roads, bridges and culverts, earth filling and excavation and re-excavation of derelict ponds and canals and removing water hyacinth from different water bodies, sources said. Each workers would get TK 200 per day as wage from the programme that would continue till starting the plantation of Boro paddy , sources said. Local Lawmaker Engineer Monowar Hossain Chowdhury inaugurated the programme by cutting earth in the premises of Kamardaha union parishad (UP) as chief guest. Upazila Chairman Abdul Latif Prodhan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ramkrishna Barman, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Jahirul Islam and UP chairman Shariful Islam Ratan , among others were present on the occasion, reports BSS.
