Training on e-agriculture held in Palashbari

A day -long training on skills development in e-agricultural and creative issues was held at the training room of Palashbari upazila Agriculture Office on Tuesday. Upazila Agriculture Public Private Initiative Committee arranged the training for Sub Assistant Agriculture Officers (SAAOs) of Department of Agriculture Extension and Local Service Providers (LSPs) of Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK) in cooperation with Civic Engagement Alliance project, programme pathway-3. Upazila chairman AKM Moksed Chowdhury Bidyut addressed the function and inaugurated it as the chief guest and UNO Mezbaul Hossain was present at the event as the special guest while upazila agriculture officer M Azizul Islam presided over the ceremony. Then, the participants were imparted training on how to get information from the websites in a bid to use it on the land practically to boost production of crops. Upazila agriculture extension officers Harun-or-Rashid and Saifunnahar Sathi conducted the training sessions as the resource persons. A total of 35 SAAOs and LSPs participated in the training. UAO Azizul Islam said any one can get information to produce agri-crops systematically for desired output if he or she visits the agriculture related websites using internet facility. The training had been arranged for the participants so that they could develop their professional skills visiting agriculture related websites and apps, he added, reports BSS.
Prisoner dies in Jhenaidah jail
JHENAIDAH : A prisoner who fell sick in the district jail died at sadar hospital recently . The deceased was identified as Nanda Kumar, 40, son of Gopal Chandra of Bede Kolpara area in Kaliganj upazila. Jailer Nizam Uddin of Jhenaidah jail said Nanda was sent to jail in a robbery case on October 22 and he was sent to jail hospital as he fell sick there. After primary treatment there he was sent back to jail. In the morning, Nanda was taken to Sadar Hospital after he complained of chest pain and he died there, the jailer said. DrMonirul Islam, duty doctor of emergency unit of the Sadar Hospital said the man was brought dead to the hospital, reports UNB.
Farmer electrocution in Magura
MAGURA: A farmer was electrocuted at Pukhuria Baliadanga village in Sadar upazila on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Khondokar Lutfur Fakir, 52, of the area. Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge ofMagura Sadar Police Station, said locals spotted the body of Lutfur lying in a crop land and informed police. He was electrocuted when he came in contact with an electric wire of a poultry farm. Poultry farm owner Shohag took electric connection in the farm to prevent wild animals, said police. Police arrested two people in this connection and a case was filed, reports UNB.
Two held for selling fox meat as mutton in B’baria
BRAHMANBARIA : Police arrested two persons, one of whom has subsequently been jailed, for allegedly selling fox meat in the name of mutton from the Sarail-Bishwa Road bus-stop area recently. The arrestees were identified as Arzad Ali, 22, son of Madu Mia and Saddam Hossain, both residents of Lakhai upazila in Habiganj district. Police arrested them red-handed while they were in the act of selling the fox meat to a restaurant in the name of mutton at low price, said Mynul Islam, officer-in-charge of Hatihata Highway Police Station. Police were also able to recover 27 kilograms of fox meat and 10 kilograms of liver from them. Later, a mobile court led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Farjana Priyanka sentenced Arzad to six months in jail. Saddam however escaped the jail sentence and got away with Tk 5,000 fine, OC added, reports UNB.
