The National Sanitation and World Hand Wash Day was observed in Rajshahi by Public Health Engineering Departments on Tuesday . DC Hamidul Haque was present as Chief guest in the programme. Rajshahi DC office and RPHE Department jointly arranged the programme. A colorful rally paraded around the city and a public meeting was held in the DC Conference Hall Room. At that time Rajshahi College students took a part of the programme. Rajshahi Public Health Engineer Departments Executive Engineer Rukunuzzaman preside over the programme. On the other hand, Charghat Public Health Engineering Departments has observed the days. Preside over UNO Nazmul Haque, as especial guest UZ Chairmen Faqrul Islam. On due time UAO Monjur Rahman, Engineer KM Nasir Uddin, PIO Shamim Ahammed , Asst. UEO Muhidul Islam, PHED Mechanic Tarque Ibna Habib and others department officer were present. However, Godagari, Tanor, Paba, Mohonpur, Bagmara, Durgapur, Puthia and Baga Public Health Engineer Departments have been observed the sanitation and Hand Washing days. BRAC observes Int’l Poverty Alleviation Day

BRAC, the world’s largest private development organization, has taken various activities elsewhere the country marking International Poverty Alleviation Day-19 in Naogaon district. Deputy Commissioner Md Haron-Or-Rashid visited the activities of BRAC Ultra-Poor graduation program in Naogaon district on Tuesday. He visited the home of the attendees and held meetings with those who took part in the programme mentioned by BRAC. The Deputy Commissioner said Appreciating BRAC’s role in reducing poverty across the country, this initiative of BRAC should be done by all good NGOs. The United Nations sets forth the key theme of this year’s International Poverty Reduction Day: Empowering families, children and society, poverty alleviation for all to participate Assistant Commissioner (Land) Tuk Tuk Talukdar, Uttam Kumar Das, District Animal Husbandry Officer Nur Mohammad and Deputy Director District Social Services Office Md Anichur Rahman and Chairman Dhubal. Concerning the day, the district administration has organized a fieldwork inspection with the help of the district administration of all districts including Ultra-Poor Graduation Program in Nagaon district.
Fake doctor jailed in Sherpur
SHERPUR : A mobile court sentenced a fake doctor to two months’ imprisonment in Nalitabari upazila here recently. The convict is M Shahidul Islam, 42, son of late Jasim Uddin of Khord Malibari in the district town. The mobile court, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Nalitabari M Arifur Rahman, detained Shahidul from Labonya Medicine and Health Care around 8pm. The UNO said although Shahidul has passed only Secondary School Certificate examination, he obtained DMF certificate from an organisation in Dhaka and has been providing treatment identifying himself as a specialist of polyp, piles and respiratory problems, reports UNB.
