Unidentified woman killed in Bagerhat road accident

An unidentified woman (50) met her tragic end when she was dashed violently by a speeding Nasiman on Bagearhat-Rupsa old Road near at Singati under Fakirhat Upazila in the district on Tuesday, according to a delayed report received here. Police and the locals informs that on the day at noon when the ill-fated woman was crossing the road at the place of occurrence the speeding killer Nasima (a 3 wheeled vehicle) that was coming from the opposite direction suddenly lost its control, dashed the woman violently from her front and fled away. As a result, she was fatally injured. Some locals recovered her from there and brought her to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared her dead. Police recovered the dead body and sent it to Bagerhat morgue for its autopsy.

Police have arrested 25 people from different areas of Sunamganj district. They were arrested in a drive conducted from Tuesday night till Wednesday morning. Of the arrestees, five are BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami activists. Police Super Md Harun Ur Rashid said: ‘They are accused in different cases. We conducted the drive and arrested them to maintain haw and order in the district.’
Crude bomb blasts at Bandarbazar point
Miscreants blasted a crude bomb in the Bandarbazar Point on Wednesday noon. Police sources said the crude bomb went off on the Bandarbazar Point around 6 pm. However, no casualty was reported. officer-in-charge of Kotuwaly police station, said miscreants might have blasted the bomb to create panic.
Minor girl drowns in Sunamganj
SUNAMGANJ: A minor girl drowned in a pond at Joykalas village under South Sunamganj thana here this morning. The victim was identified as Sanjida, 3, daughter of Tara Khan of the area. Police and family sources said Sanjida was playing by the side of the pond, when she suddenly slipped into the pond water and drowned. Family members recovered her floating body from the pond, reports BSS.
One lakh yaba seized in Comilla
COMILLA: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)-10 in a drive recovered one lakh pieces of Yaba tablet from Bouara bazaar area under Sadar upazila last night. On a tip-off, a BGB team conducted the drive in the area at about 1 am and recovered the Yaba tablets in an abandoned condition, said Lieutenant Colonel Zakir Hossain, commanding officer of Kotbari BGB-10. The estimated value of the tablets is Taka about 3 crore, reports BSS.
Wife stabbed to death over dowry in Jessore
BENAPOLE: A housewife was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband and in-laws over a dowry-related dispute at Khatua village in Monirampur upazila on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Sharmin Akhter, 20, wife of Asadul Islam Asha, a resident of the village.Family members said Sharmin had been married with Asadul about two years back.However, their married life turned out to be an unhappy one as Asadul and his family members started torturing Sharmin mentally and physically over dowry. On Wednesday night, Asadul stabbed Sharmin indiscriminately over the issue, leaving her dead.Informed, police recovered the body around 9.00pm from the house and sent it to Jessore 25-bed Hospital for an autopsy.The body bore several injury marks, said Ramjan Ali, sub-inspector of Jhapa police outpost .Later, victim’s mother Ayesha Begum filed a case in this connection, reports UNB.

NARAYANGANJ: Police in separate drives arrested six people including three teenage boys along with two pistols and bullets in Fatullah of sadar upazila on Wednesday. The arrestees were identified as Imran, 20, Shakil, 13, Al-Amin, 12, Masud 28, Jisan, 12 and Bashir 23– all residents of South Badda of the capital.Earlier, police in a drive arrested Imran, Shakil and Al-Amin from the launch ghat area at noon along with a pistol and a magazine, said Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Fatullah Model Police Station. Based on their information, police and Detective Branch of police conducted a joint drive in Badda area at night and arrested Masud, Zishan and Bashir.Police recovered six magazines, three rounds of bullet and a pistol from their possession.Police later gave details of the arrest at a press briefing, , reports UNB.
SSC examinee killed in bike crash
MAGURA: An SSC examinee was killed as his motorbike plunged into a roadside ditch at Thakurerhat on the Mahammadpur-Babukhali Road in Mahammadpur upazila on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Iqbal Hossain,15, son of Abul Hossain Molla, a resident of Jhama village of the same upazila. Officer-in-charge Ataur Rahman of Mahammadpur Police Station said a motorcycle Iqbal was riding fell into a ditch in the afternoon as he lost control over the steering while giving side to a human hauler (Nasimon), leaving him critically injured, reports UNB.
