The Conservative, who is aiming to unseat Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberals in the October 21 election, has been on the defensive since disclosing Thursday that he is part-American.
Musharraf plans return to politics today

Pakistan’s former military ruler Pervez Musharraf plans to return to politics on October 6 after remaining inactive for over a year due to his deteriorating health, according to one of his top aides.
General (Retd) Musharraf, 76, who has been living in Dubai since March 2016, is facing a treason case for suspending the Constitution in 2007, a punishable offence for which he was indicted in 2014. A conviction for high treason carries the death penalty or life imprisonment.
Australian couple charged with spying in Iran released

An Australian travel-blogging couple who were detained in Iran on spying charges have been released and returned home, Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne said Saturday.
Perth-based Jolie King and Mark Firkin had been documenting their journey from Australia to Britain on social media for the past two years but went silent after posting updates from Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan about three months ago.
Ten killed in minibus-lorry collision in Romania

Ten people were killed and seven injured on Saturday when a lorry collided with a minibus in eastern Romania, the country with the highest level of road deaths in the EU, police said.
Nine of the 16 people on the minibus and the driver of the truck died in the accident, one of the most serious in the country where the poor state of the roads is a concern for motorists.
