Barishal hilsa market now busy

Barishal wholesale hilsa market became very busy after government announced decision to export 500 tons of hilsa to India as Durga Puja greetings, the main religious festival of Bangalee Hindu community. Price of export size hilsa (600-900 gm) increased 100 taka per kilogram in local market after announcing the decision, informed local businessmen at Barishal Port Road wholesale hilsa market(mokam). Hilsa fishermen and traders said average 30 tons of hilsa collected from local sweet water rivers daily came to Barishal wholesale hilsa market. Nirob Hossain Tutul, Secretary of Barishal Wholesale Hilsa Sellers Association, said now they engaged in packing daily about fifty tons of sweet water hilsa for supply to the exporter. We expect that at least fifty percent of 500 tons of exportable hilsa would be send from Barishal to the exporter Aquatic Resort Limited of Gazipur for exporting to India through Naj Impex Private Limited of Kolkata at the rate of US $6 per kg hilsa with duty-free facility and subsidy, he added.
Training on school effectiveness held in Rangpur

An inauguration session of district resource team training on school effectiveness Programme in collaboration with Directorate of Primary Education and UNICEF Rangpur was held at District Primary Education Office on Monday. Rangpur Divisional Deputy Director for Primary Education Md. Abdul Wahab spoke as the Chief Guest and UNICEF Rangpur Office Chief Najibullah Hameem spoke as Special Guest at the orientation event which is a part of implementing School Effectiveness Programme in 32 government primary schools in Rangpur. District Primary Education Officer Md. Shahidul Islam chaired the event where district and upazila level education officials participated. Md. Abdul Wahab in his speech urged all education officials to translate their training and knowledge in to enabling work environment and learning outcomes conducive for ensuring children well-being. Rangpur Divisional Unicef Chief Najibullah Hameem stressed importance on quality education and capacity building of teachers for making schools more child-friendly. ‘
Two motor cyclists killed in Bagerhat

A young motor cyclist was killed on the spot and a young co-rider was seriously injured when their speeding motor cycle was dashed violently with a standing truck on Mawa-Khulna Highway near at Jora (double) bridge within Gawla Union under Mollahat Upazila in Bagerhat district recently. The dead was identified as Alauddin, son of one Keramat Ali hails from aheshwarpasa in Khulna City Corporation and the injured was identified as al-Amin hails from Mirpur in Dhaka. Another report states that Abu Nahian Raju (24), a C & F trader of Mongla port town was killed when his motor cycle collided with a pipe of a dredger on Madrasa Road of Mongla Pourashava recently. It is learnt from the locals that a dredger was illegally lifting sands from the adjacent river in order to raise a low land area within the Pourashava through the pipe that was set on the road.
