Anti-drug , dowry rally held at Gafargaon

Anti-drug and dowry Bi-Cycle Rally has been held at Gafargaon. ‘Let us ensure the development of a meaningful life and society free of dowry and drug addiction’ before this slogan more than hundred youths participated in this rally. This colourful rally was organised by Gafargaon Helpline from Jamtola Crossing at Gafargaon Municipality area at 11am on Saturday. Later, the rally paraded main roads in the municipality area. The rally ended in front of Gafargaon Police Station . Members of the Gafargaon Helpline Group were present in the rally.
BCL leader held in Jashore

The police on Friday night arrested a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of the ruling party for allegedly snatching a mobile phone from a youth near Jashore registry office, said sub inspector Sukumar Kundu of Kotwali police station. The arrested is Golam Rabbani,26, organizing secretary, Shahid Masiur Rahman Hall unit of BCL and student of the department of Nutrition Science at Jashore University of Science and Technology. He is a son of Ahmad Ali of Dhanaihat village under Joypurhat sadar upazila, police said. The police official told that the BCL man was arrested while he was fleeing away after snatching a mobile phone from a youth at around 10pm on Friday.
Dwelling houses gutted

A dwelling house belonging to Dipak Kumar Mondol and Debdas Kumar Mondol of village Patilakhali within Gotapara Union under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district was gutted when it caught fire at midnight recently. It is reported that the owners (2 brothers) Dipak Mondol and Debdas Mondol are residing in Bagerhat district town while their mother Shyla Bala Mondol used to reside in the house. At the night of occurrence Shyla Bala Rani went to his brother’s residence in the same village. At about 12 pm the house caught fire. On seeing the flame of fire the locals rushed to the spot and tried to bring the fire under control, but in vain. Being informed of the matter when Shyla Bala reached the place of occurrence the house along with its all belongings including cash Tk.47 lakh and valuables papers and documents was completely burnt to ashes. The loss of fire is estimated at about Tk.2.5 lakh.
Review workshop on high value crops selection held at BARI
The Seed Technology Division of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) organised a workshop on “Research Review and Programme planning workshop’ 2019 under SACP” yesterday, says a prtess release. The workshop was organised under Smallholder Agricultural Competitiveness Project (SACP) BARI Component that financed by Bangladesh Government and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). A Research work is conducted at 30 upazilas of 11 southern districts under the project. BARI Director General Dr. Abul Kalam Azad inaugurated the workshop as chief guest. Director (Planning and Evaluation) Md. Habibur Rahman Sheikh chaired the workshop while Director (Research) Dr. Md. Abdul Wohab, Director (Support & Services) Dr. Babu Lal Nag, Director (Training and Communication) Dr. Md. Miaruddin, Senior Technical Adviser of SACP project Dr. Craig Meisner were present as special guest.
