One killed, eight injured in Barishal road accident

A bus plying on Kewrakandi -Barishal route plunging to roadside ditch killed helper and injured eight others adjacent to Palli Bidyut Samity-2 office at Rahamatpur area on Barishal-Dhaka highway near Barishal Airport on Monday afternoon. Zahid Bin Alam, officer in charge of Barishal Airport Police Station under Barishal Metropolitan Police, acknowledging the fact said the ill fated bus of BMF Paribahon while giving side to another bus skidded to roadside ditch upside down recently. Police with help of local people starting rescue operation recovered Redwan Hossain, 18, of Moksudpur Gopalganj and helper of the bus as dead at the spot and other eight passengers injured. Among the injured passengers two sent to Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital and other six treated at local pharmacies, the police sources added.
Free Medical Camp held at Rampal
KHULNA: A day-long free medical camp organized by Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (Pvt.) Limited (BIFPCL) was held on Thursday at Rajnagar Union Parishad at Rampal Upazila of Bagerhat. A total of 277 eye patients were treated and were given medicines at free of cost in the medical camp. Patients who were identified and needed cataract surgery were told that they would get the service soon as another good gesture of company. BIFPCL has been conducting two free medical camps weekly at project site while one monthly medical camp at village area in the adjacent union parishads. BIFPCL has provided free health care services to roundabout 43,500 local people of Rampal and Mongla Upazila so far. As a new initiative of the company, it will also organize the free mobile boat medical camp in the remote areas of Rampal-Mongla areas of Bagerhat, reports BSS.
Science Fair, Science Olympiad held in Bogura

The Science Fair and Science Olympiad was held at the Armed Police Battalion Public School and College in Bogura recently. The programme was chaired by ATM Mostafa Kamal principal of the School and Collage while Nizam Uddin, Commander (Superintendent of Police), APBN Bogra and President Governing Body, APBN Public School and College, inaugurated the fair as the chief guest. Md Abu Sayem, Deputy Superintendent of Police and APBN-4, additional Superintendent of Police Farhana Yasmin were present as special guests.College in-charge Mahbuba Haque, shift in-charge Md Mahfuzur Rahman Jewel, assistant Head Teacher Md Fazlul Haque, Rowshan Ara Begum and in-charge of Prabhati Branch were present among others. The Chief Guest distributed the Mahomedan Award at the closing ceremony of the second phase when the President announced the end of the program by the Mahomedan. Abu Rahat was first from Alpha group in Science Olympiad, Nafisa was first from Beta group, Sajjad was first from Gamma group, and Sadie Al Mahmud was first from Pi group.
