BCL factions clash at Beanibazar Govt College

A clash erupted between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL)at Beanibazar Government College on Wednesday. Oboni Shankar Kor, officer-in-charge of Beanibazar police station, said the clash took place between the members of ÔPallab’ and ÔShadhin’ groups of Chhatra League. According to Professor Darkesh Chandra Nath, principal of Beanibazar Govt College, the clash resulted from trying to establish supremacy at the campus. Eyewitnesses claim that members of Pallab group armed with local weapons took up positions on campus and started chasing members of Shadhin group when they tried to enter through the main gate. A shop was vandalized and a private car was damaged during the clash. Additional police were deployed in the city to prevent any clandestine attack. None of the groups filed any complaint at the police station, the OC said.
One arrested with drugs

One person was arrested with drugs in Kishoreganj. Police arrested with 495 yaba tablet from the district on Wednesday evening 25 September. The arrested was Abu Yousuf Sarowar alis Sujan (40), son of Shamsuddin Bhuiyan of village Puranthana under Kishoreganj Sadar upazila in Kishoreganj district. Kishoreganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Bakar Siddique said Police raided Puranthana area under Kishoreganj Sadar upazila and arrested Abu Yousuf Sarowa alis Sujan with 495 yaba tablets. A case under Narcotics Control Acts was field with Kishoreanj Model Police Station.
NGO man killed , 4 others injured in Chandpur road accident

An NGO officer was killed, his office colleague got serious injuries and three other passengers minor injuries in a road crash at Dakhshin Dhanua area under Faridganj Upazila at 8 pm on Sunday last on Chandpur-Faridganj -Roypur Regional Highway. The deceased was identified as Rezaul Karim,45, Area Manager of the NGO-Bureau Bangladesh Area office at Faridganj and son of Nobbesh Ali – of Bahratoli village in Kaliakoir Upazila of Gazipur. The seriously injured colleague is identified as Hannan Mia ,55, a resident of Goalvaor village in Faridganj Upazila. Faridganj Thana OC Abdur Rakib and Chandpur Model Thana Sub Inspector Mafizul Islam said, the auto rickshaw the victims were riding suddenly hit from behind a parked pick up at Dakhshin Dhanua area and so, the vehicle carrying them and three others turned turtle causing serious injuries to Rezaul, his colleague Hannan, and minor injuries to other passengers.
Locals rescued them all. At once seriously injured Rezaul and Hannan were rushed to Chandpur General Hospital where the on duty doctor Sujauddowla Rubel declared Rezaul dead and admitted Hannan, still undergoing treatment. Rezaul’s colleague Jhuton Majumder has said, after finishing official work in Chandpur, Rezaul and Hannan were returning to Faridganj by the auto rickshaw. On getting information, Faridganj Thana Police rushed to the spot and seized the pick up and autorickshaw but the auto rickshaw driver managed to flee.  
Three arrested with Yabas in Barishal

Detective branch of Barishal Metropolitan Police on Tuesday operating drives in different areas of the city arrested three drug peddlers and recovered Yaba tablets from them. Sub Inspector Delwar Hossain of DB BMP, said Taslima Begum, 40, with 180 pieces of Yaba arrested from DC Lake area and Abbarul Hasan, 28, arrested with 30 pieces of Yaba from Swa-Road Bakla area of the city on early Tuesday. Besides another team of DB BMP led by Sub Inspector Mohiuddin operating drive arrested Rabbi Haoladar, 28, with 5 pieces of Yaba on the same night from Thana Council area of the city. The arrestees sent to jail after lodging cases under narcotic control act with Kotwali Police Station and producing before the court, DB BMP sources said.
