Sylhet DC distributes tablet PC among officials

District administration authority of Sylhet distributed tablet PC (computers) among the divisional, district and upazila level officials under the project of National ICT Network for Bangladesh Govt Phase-2(Info Govt) . Deputy commissioner of Sylhet Shohidul Islam distributed these PCs at the DC’s conference hall yesterday morning. Mentionable that with the aim of turning Banglasdesh into digital Bangladesh, ICT Advisor to the prime minister Sajib Wazed centrally inaugurated the project activities of Tablet PC distribution project earlier.
3 shops gutted in Sylhet
At least 3 shops were gutted in a fire at Dakbangla market in Balagonj upazila District of Sylhet early Friday. Fire service sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop in Dakbangla Road area and soon engulfed the adjoining shops. On information, fire fighting units from Balagonj upazila rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after two hours of frantic effort. Balagonj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Balagonj Upazila Parishad Chairman visited the spot and assured the victims of providing possible help.
Khelaghar demanded to end political violence

Leaders and member of the district unit of Khelaghar, a chilldren-juvenile organisation, on Friday morning formed a human chain in front of Barisal Ashwini Kumar Hall in the city calling end of political violence. They called the ruling and rival political alliances to ensure safety and security of the children.The programme was presided over by Jibon Krishna Dey, Barisal district Khelaghar president.Among others Advocate Bshwanath Das Munshi, Prof, Nazmul Hossain Akash, Kamrunnahar Moni, A B Siddik, Bahauddin Golap, leaders and activists of Khelaghar, Udichi, addressed the programme. People are suffering, nation are losing by the political rivalries between the ruling and opponent alliances in the name of blockade, strike, violence and prevention of those movements. The children, forced to be confined inside home as safely reaching at and returning home from outside now became uncertain. Guardians of the children passing days with most insecurity, anxieties and risks through out the country and government also failed to ensure safety and security of the general people, they noticed.
Wife stabs husband to death
Rajshahi: A housewife has reportedly stabbed her husband to death at Mohipara village under Durgapur Upazila of the district last night.Quoting locals police said seriously injured Tapash Panna, 35, wasimmediately rushed to the nearby upazila health complex where the attending doctors declared him dead. Police rounded up the wife, Trina Lakra, 25, in connection with the killing. Parimal Qumar Chakravarty, Officer-in-Charge of Durgapur Police Station, told journalists the couple got locked in an altercation over family matter. At one stage, Trina Lakra struck her husband with a sharp weapon repeatedly.A case was recorded with the police station in this connection, reports BSS.
Forest robber arrested in Satkhira
SATKHIRA: Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested a member of notorious forest robber gang ‘Alam Bahini’ from Laboni More area of the district town early Saturday. The arrestee was identified as Akbar Hossain,35, son of Abdur Rahim, a resident of Tengrakhali village adjacent to Sundarbans in Shyamnagar upazila. Police said tipped off, a team of DB police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Akbar at about 12:30 am. Munshiganj union parishad chairman Abul Kashem Morol said Akbar is an active member of notorious forest robber gang ‘Alam Bahini’. Satkhira DB official Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the arrest, reports UNB.
