Israel’s main parties begin talks on

Israel’s two largest parties met Tuesday to discuss the possibility of forming a unity government, in a long-shot effort to solve the political paralysis that has emerged from last week’s deadlocked national elections. The meeting between party representatives comes a day after Blue and White leader Benny Gantz and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the rival Likud party held their first working meeting since the vote.
China calls on Washington to cancel Xinjiang meeting

China called on Washington on Tuesday to cancel a planned meeting at the United Nations to discuss accusations of repression and mass detentions in its Muslim northwestern region of Xinjiang.
The foreign ministry accused the Trump administration of slandering China and interfering in its affairs.

US President Donald Trump and his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in held a summit in New York on Monday to discuss plans to restart US-North Korea talks, as Seoul’s spy agency said the negotiations could take place in two to three weeks.
Negotiations aimed at dismantling North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs have stalled since a failed second summit between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in February. Pyongyang has said it is willing to restart working-level talks in late September, but no date or location have been set.
