Workshop on Child Protection Act held

A review meeting on the Child Protection Act 2013 and the latest amendment 2018 was held at the seminar room of Khulna Metropolitan Police Line, Bayra, Khulna on Tuesday with the representatives of the Police Department, Social Service Department And Civil Society. The chief guest of the workshop was Khandakar Lutful Kabir, Police Commissioner, KMP. The DC (prosecution) of KMP, Md. Anwar Hossain chaired the workshop and the moderator was the Executive Director of JJS, ATM Zakir Hossain. Senior officers of the police administration, Deputy Director, Assistant Director and Probation Officer of the Social Service Department, Police Officers of Child Affairs of eight police stations of the KMP, Child Protection Officer of UNICEF Khulna, Muminun Nessa and consultant of UNICEF Dhaka, Md Delwar Hossain were present at the meeting. The chief guest of the workshop said that the Children’s Act of 2013 is the law of the ages. This law has the chance to protect the rights of children and to correct misguided children. He urged all those present to see the child law and children with sensitivity to those children who are in conflict or conflict with the law as their own children. He advised all responsible persons to take a more effective role from their own place in implementing Children’s Act -2013. Commenting on the diversion of child law and subsequent follow-up, probation officers and Child Affairs Police Officers have to be more responsible. UNICEF Khulna’s Child Protection Officer Muminun Nessa urged all concerned to ensure proper enforcement of child law. She emphasized on children’s diversion and urged everyone to use specific formats in this regard. Dhaka UNICEF consultant Md. Delwar Hossain gave a visual presentation on diversion and Children Act.
Awareness building campaign held

The students must not involve them in drug abuse, violence, terrorism, militancy and extremism as these anti-social acts give rise to criminal records causing hindrance to build up their future career as good citizens. Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Md. Abdul Alim Mahmud opined this at a “Students’ awareness building campaign” was held at the Rangpur Millennium Stars School and College auditorium here as the chief guest on Wednesday afternoon. The Rangpur Metropolitan Community Policing Committee (RMCPC) organised the campaign with assistance of the authorities of RpMP and the Rangpur Millennium Stars School and College. Presided over by Principal of the Rangpur Millennium Stars School and College Lieutenant Colonel Syed Nazmur Rahman, more than 500 male and female students of the reputed educational institution attended the event. Additional Police Commissioner of RpMP Mohammad Abu Sufian, its Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters and Admin) Md. Mohidul Islam, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters) Abdullah Faruk, President of Rangpur Metropolitan Community Policing Committee Md. Idris Ali and senior officials were present. In the beginning, Member of RMCPC Golam Zakaria Pintu presented video documentary on the activities of Rangpur Metropolitan Police and successes achieved in improving the law and order situation in the metropolis in last one year.
The chief guest stressed on engaging sincere efforts of all concerned to educate students about severe consequences of drug abuse, extremism, eve- teasing, early marriage and different types of unwanted incidents happening around.
Drug peddler held with 3,000 Yaba tablets in C’nawabganj
C’NAWABGANJ: Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an alleged drug peddler with 3,000 pieces of yaba tablets from Dashrashia Ghat area in Shibganj upazila of the district on Tuesday morning. The arrested identified as Md Ziarul Islam, 40, is a resident of Terorashia village in the upazila. On information, a team of the BGB from Wahedpur border outpost raided the aforesaid area around 10:30 am and arrested Ziarul with the yaba tablets. The arrested person along with the yaba tablets was handed over to Shibganj police station. A case was filed in this regard, reports BSS.
