A two-day ‘Inter-college swimming and water polo competition-2018’ began at Rajshahi University on Monday. The competition was arranged for the 33rd times. RU pro vice chancellors professor Ananda Kumar Saha and Chowdhury Mohammod Zakaria inaugurated the competition by hoisting the national flag and releasing pigeons and balloons in the air at the university swimming poll on Monday. Among others, the university athletics and aquatics sub committee’s president and also social faculty dean M Fakrul Islam, business faculty dean professor M Humayan Kabir, proctor professor Lutfar Rahman, public relation office administrator professor Provash Kumar Karmakar, student adviser Laila Arjuman Banu and provosts of different halls were present. Students of RU 7 halls are taking part at the competition.
Human chain protesting rape, sexual harassment held

A human chain was formed at Ahmedpur bazar in Baraigram Upazila under Natore district protesting rape, sexual harassment and murder of the women. On the occasion, a non-government organization SAPLA and Ahmedpur Girls’ High School jointly arranged this human chain on Tuesday on Natore- Pabna Highway . The human chain was addressed by AZM Ashrafuzzaman, Chief Executive Officer of NGO, SAPLA, Isahak Ali Mondol, Chairperson of the Ahmedpur Girl’s High School and Headmaster Hosne Ara Begum. Speakers demanded punishment of miscreants who are related with rape, sexual harassment and murder of women.
Meeting held against women’s torture

A meeting was held against women’s torture, child marriage and evangelism in Bogura on Wednesday with befitting manner at police lines conference room. Youth volunteers will work with the district Police to prevent all forms of violence against women including torture, child marriage, and evangelism round the clock. Leadership Programme has been organized marking the day participating elite person along with police members. A rally called Youth Volunteers for Gender Equality various issues were addressed to prevent violence against women. Superintendent of police Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan BPM (Bar) inaugurated the rally at Bogura Police Lines School and College Auditorium on the day. Deputy Commissioner Fayez Ahmed was the chief guest at the rally in collaboration with UNFPA in organizing the district police. Police Superintendents Shafiizul Islam and Abdul Jalil, chaired by Police Super Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan BPM. Additional Superintendents of Police Sanatan Chakraborty and Tapas Kumar, Shahadat Alam Jhunu, Principal of Police Lines School and College, Rabia Khatun, Head Teacher of Bogura Government Girls High School, UNFPA District Representative Tamima Nasrin, Station Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police SM Badiuzzaman were present.
