Arms peddler held in C’nawabganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an alleged arms peddler with three foreign-made pistols, a one shooter gun, three magazines and 16 rounds of bullet from Koilabari village under Shibganj upazila in the district on Monday morning. The arrested person was identified as Mojibur, 32, of the aforesaid area. RAB said, acting on a tip-off, an operation team of the RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj camp raided Koilabari area at 6 am and arrested Mojibur with the arms and ammunition.
Ex- Army man killed in Chandpur road crash

An ex-Army man was killed in a road crash at noon on Sunday on Chandpur- Cumilla regional highway at Mothkhola area near Zila Parishad Office -an outskirt under Chandpur Sadar. The deceased was identified as Nazrul Islam Gazi, 65, a resident of Moishadi village under Moishadi union in Chandpur Sadar Upazila. Contacted, Sadar Model Thana Sub Inspector Polash Barua has told this correspondent that while crossing the road , a speedy and reckless motorbike suddenly hit him leaving him seriously injured on the road. Locals rushed him to Chandpur General Hospital where the on duty doctor declared him dead at 1 pm. On getting the report , Sadar Model Thana Sub-Inspector Polash Barua along with Police force rushed to the spot and seized the bike. The biker however managed to flee the scene. Contacted, Moishadi UP Chairman Moniruzzaman Manik also confirmed the report. A case was filed in this connection.
RpMP celebrates first founding anniversary
RANGPUR: Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) celebrated its founding anniversary through daylong various programmes on Monday amid huge enthusiasm and festivity in the city. The celebrations began with realising balloons followed by bringing out of a huge colourful ‘Ananda Shobhayatra’ by the Traffic Division of RpMP and it paraded the main city streets from the District Police Lines ground. Divisional Commissioner KM Tariqul Islam, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Rangpur Range Police Devdas Bhattacharya, RpMP Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud and high officials took part in the ‘Ananda Shobhayatra’. The main celebration programmes began at RpMP Lines ground in the city
at night. A documentary film was screened on the occasion focusing on the history of establishing RpMP by Prime Minsiter Sheikh Hasina and launching of RpMP activities by her through video conferencing on September 16 in 2018. The RpMP donated financial assistance to two of its constables who died while conducting official duties recently and extended assistance to a number of differently able citizens for their boldness in moving forward to lead life. The RpMP Commissioner greeted and accorded grand reception to a number of valiant freedom fighters, who retired after serving in Bangladesh Police, for their bravery while fighting the War of Liberation in 1971 to snatch away our national independence. Later, the RpMP authority accorded reception to a number of citizens to honour them for their laudable contributions to the society and nation- building activities and maintaining honesty while in their respective fields and distributed crests among them.
Among them, Senior Reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Md. Mamun Islam was honoured for conducting professional activities properly following ethics of journalism.In his welcome speech, RpMP Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud sought cooperation of local citizens to further improve the law and order situation in turning Rangpur into a city free from drug, terrorism, militancy and all
sorts of crimes.
