One killed, two injured in road accident

One persons killed and two others injured after their carrier a speedy three-wheeler hit a parked truck at Amtala Mor area of the city on Sunday. The dead victim was identified as Monir Hossain, 20, a factory worker of Shyampur Dhaka and son of Akkas Hossain from Vorpasha under Bakerganj upazila of the city. The injured two were admitted at Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital and identified as Yunus Mia 35, from Kalaskathi under Bakerganj upazila of Barishal and Rina Begum, 35, wife of Akkas Hossain from Nalcity upazila of Jhalakathi. Nurul Islam, officer in charge of Barishal Kotwali police station, said according to the witnesses and injured person, driver of the speedy three-wheeler losing control over the vehicle during turning at Amtala Mor, hit a parked truck. Local people rushed to the spot recovering the victims sent to SBMCH and there Monir declared as dead and other two admitted at the hospital by the attending physician of emergency ward. Police seized the three-wheeler, but driver of the vehicle managed to flee away before police reached at the spot and after lodging a case of unnatural death body of the dead victim handed over to family members without autopsy on request, the police sources said.
Satota Store’ inaugurated in Rangpur
RANGPUR: The initiative of launching “Satota Store” (Integrity Store) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) at educational institutions would help to produce honest and greedless future generation. The observation came on Wednesday at a function arranged by Lalkuthi Girls’ High School and College at its Auditorium for inauguration of a ‘Satota Store’ at the educational institution of the city. Deputy Director of the ACC at its Rangpur district combined office Md. Sheikh Mesbah Uddin addressed the function and inaugurated the ‘Satota Store’ in the institution by cutting ribbon as the chief guest. With Principal of Lalkuthi Girls’ High School and College Abdur Rouf Sarkar in the chair, General Secretary of the District Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC) freedom fighter Akbor Hossain addressed the function as special guest. Member of the District CPC Monjushree Saha, Teacher of Lalkuthi Girls’ High School and College Syed Saiful Islam, President of its ‘Satota Sangha’ student Atika Akhter (calls ten) and its General Secretary student (class nine) Mithila Akhter Mimi spoke, reports BSS.
6 new dengue patients identified in Bagerhat

Some 6 new dengue patients were identified throughout in Bagerhat during the last 24 hours (till Tuesday at 12 am), according to a report received from a reliable source of Bagerhat Sadar Hospital. The source further discloses that including these 4 as many as 14 dengue patients were admitted to the different hospitals in the whole of Bagerhat district for their treatment. Now the total number of dengu patients in Bagerhat is 226 and out of them 206 were fully cured and they were returned home from the hospitals. According to the source, no dengu patient died in the district. But 2/3 persons of the district died of dengue in the out sides of the district.

2 held with 7,800 pieces of Yaba

Rapid Action Battalion arrested two drug pedlars after seizure of around 8,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from them in Sylhet recently. The arrested were Abdus Salam, 54, a resident of Mantoil village at Jakiganj upazila in the district, and Ali Ahmad, 30, of Jamdar village of the same upazila, the RAB said. RAB-9 media officer Md Moniruzzaman told that acting on a tip-off, the battalion members conducted a raid at Burhanpur village at the Jakiganj upazila at around 8:30pm on Thursday and arrested the two men there in possession of 7,800 pieces Yaba. He said the arrested persons and the recovered yaba tablets were handed over to the Jakiganj police at night.
Jakiganj police officer-in-charge Meer Md Abdul Naser told on Friday that the arrested were produced before a judicial magistrate in the noon after filing a case.
‘The court ordered sending them to jail,’ the police officer said.
