Dengue patient dies

Shahjahan Ali Master, 70, resident of Bhangura village under Bagharpara upazila in Jashore died of dengue fever at privatized Queens Hospital at around 4am on Tuesday. Dr Obaidul Kader Uzzal of the hospital confirmed the information to newsmen. The physician told that the patient got admitted with the hospital at around 10pm on Monday. He was diagnosed as dengue patient later. His blood platelet was found as over 1 lakh 60,000. He was in critical condition due his kidney injuries. That is why; he was referred to Dhaka although his attendants did not do that.
10 farmers hurt in BSF firing

At least 10 farmers were shot and injured allegedly by the members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Char Khanpur border at Paba upazila in Rajshahi on Monday. The injured were identified as Rumon, 23, Suzon, 23, Shohel, 28, Dulal, 35, Rabiul, 32, Rubel, 25, Dolar, 40, Jotu, 40, Shuruj, 19, and Sumon, 30, of Khanpur village. The BSF members opened fire on a group of farmers while they were working in their field at about 11 am, leaving the 10 of them injured. Quoting the BSF members, lieutenant colonel Ferdous Jiyauddin Mahmud of BGB Battalion-1 said that despite the farmers had been working in their field; they were crossing less area of the border.
World Spinal Cord Injury Day observed in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: The World Spinal Cord Injury Day-2019 was observed here on Thursday with the call for taking adequate measures and providing community support to rehabilitate the people with spinal cord injury. Afsar Hussain-CRP, Rajshahi divisional branch of Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed (CRP), brought out a rally from its centre premises with participation of the persons suffering with spinal cord injuries and other stakeholders. After parading some of the city streets, the rally was ended at the centre that also held a discussion meeting in its conference hall in observance of the day. ‘Living Life to the Fullest’ was the main theme of the day. Former Deputy Director of Department of Social Services Mozammel Haque, President of Shaw Unnayan Advocate Mustafizur Rahman Khan and CRP Centre Manager Soma Begum addressed the meeting as focal persons. Maksudunnabi Murad, President of Spinal Cord Injuries Development Association of Bangladesh, presided over the meeting. In his remarks, Mozammel Haque said positive approaches to promoting health are important for people with spinal cord injury adding that the community people should take up the responsibility of creating a congenial environment for disable people in the society. He said time has come to do something for the people with spinal cord injuries ensuring their rights and rehabilitation in the society. Emphasis should be given on establishing policy and rules to exclusively protect the interests of persons with spinal cord injuries in the society, he added, reports BSS.
