Human chain formed for peace in Bagerhat

Under the auspices of Bagerhat district unit of NGO Supro , a human chin was formed in front of Bagerhat Press Club on Wednesday morning under the banner-‘We want peace, tranquility, harmony , democratic environment and security of life-but not want violence, terrorism and collision.’ The human chain was conducted by Manjurul Hasan Milon, Secretary General, Supro, Bagerhat. It was addressed among others by Md. Kamal Hossain, Shilpi Aktar, Selina Banu, Shaikh Asad, Ishrat Jahan, Rahila Aktar Iva, Md. Sohel Rana Shaikh, Moniruzzaman, Hhbuba Rahman, All the speakers demanded the establishment of peaceful society in the country. The human chain was attended by a large number of people from the all walks of ife.

Two held with 28 bottles of Phensidyl in Satkhira

Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers in possession of 28 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup from Amtala intersection in the district town on Thursday morning. The arrestees were identified as Mahiuddin, son of Majid Sardar, a resident of Kathonda village, and Farhad Hossain, son of late Nur Uddin of Khalilnagar village in Sadar upazila. Assistant sub-inspector Amirul Islam of Katia police camp said on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and intercepted the motorcycle carrying the duo at about 9:30 am. Later, the law enforcers recovered 28 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup after searching their bodies and arrested them. Police also seized the motorbike. A case was filed in this connection.

Road mishap kills 2, hurt 6 in Jessore

A motorcyclist was killed on the spot and two others wounded while a motorbike was going to Benapole Land Port was hit by a Jessore- bound truck at Shyamlagachhi on the Jessore- Benapole Road, said Golam Kibria, officer in-charge, Sharsha police station. The dead was identified as Rezaul Islam, 50, son of Nurul Haque of Rajnagar village under Sharsha upazila. The accident took place at around 3pm. The injured were rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital. In another accident a Worker of Noapara Jute Mill, died on the spot and Four others wounded as two Nosimon collided face to face at Chengutia Bazer Under Avoynager Upazila in Jessore on Wednesday Morning. The dead was identified as Topon Sarker (35) son of Rampado Sharker of Puratal village under Avoynager upazila. The Wounded were Sohrab Hossain (38) anb Abbus Uddin (42) of Puratal village, Abdus Samad (60) and Nur Mohammad Ali (44) of Bongram village under Avoynager upazila.

Robbers loot house in Sylhet

Robbers looted valuables from a house at Lawai village in Dakshin Surma upazila early Tuseday. Police said a gang of robbers, numbering 5/6, stormed into the house of Gulam Hadi Saiful around 3 am and looted 35 tolas of gold ornaments, 6 Mobile, Cash 8 Lack Tk and other valuables at gunpoint. OC of Dakhin Surma Police Station confermed the matter.
