School student drowns in Baraigram

A school student Rumani Parvin (6) was drowned in water of Kachugari beel in Baraigram upazila of Natore district on Tuesday noon. Rumani Parvin was a student of class 1 of Kachugari Govt.Pri. School and daughter of Roni Miya of Kachugari. Jonail UP Chairman Tozammal Haque said, Rumani Parvin and her companions were returning home from school. At the middle path, they went into water body of the beel to pick up lily flower. Suddenly Rumani Parvin fell down into a deep hole and drowned in water body. Her companions began shouting.Then local people recovered her and sent to a hospital. Acting doctor declared her death.
Distribution of free Aman seedlings begins in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA : The free distribution of the late variety of Aman paddy seedlings produced at Agriculture Training Institute (ATI) began yesterday to the flood affected small and marginal farmers of Sadar upazila in the district ,Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources said like the previous years, the seedlings of late variety Naizarshal Aman paddy were produced on 6 bighas of land of ATI here at the arrangement of the DAE aimed at distributing to the flood affected farmers at free of cost. As the devastating flood inundated vast areas in the district last month, the Aman seedlings produced on their seedbeds were damaged making the affected farmers worried about the T-Aman paddy farming this season. The DAE smartly took the initiatives to distribute the seedlings of ATI to 120 affected small and marginal farmers of Sadar upazila free of cost to help them recoup their losses caused by flood. Speaking at the function, DC Abdul Matin advised the farmers to plant the seedlings on their land properly and nurture it taking the suggestions from the field level agricultural officials to get desired output against the crop. Principal of ATI Poritosh Kumar, DD of DAE Dr. SM Ferdous, district training officer Showkat Osman, upazila agriculture officer Al Imran, sub assistant agriculture officers, and union parishad chairmen including media men were present on the occasion.
Two arrested with 20, 000 pieces of Yaba tablets

Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered twenty thousand pieces of Yaba tablets from Barishal city and adjacent village on Wednesday. Holding a press conference at conference of Barishal Metropolitan Police office on Wednesday afternoon, BMP commissioner Shahabuddin Ahmed disclosed these facts. The arrested two drug peddlers were identified as Gazi Maksudul Alam alias Nantu, 42, and his associate Emdadul Huq alias Rajon Kazi, 22,. Police also recovered total 20 thousand Yaba tablets worth Tk One core from two places at Dingamanik village under Charmonai union and Jordon Road area of the city after revealed in interrogation by them. The arrestees also acknowledged that the recovered Yaba tablets were produced in Myanmar and imported by listed drug peddlers including the arrestees through waterways reached Barishal via Barguna coast. Both of the arrestees sent to jail after producing before the court and police lodging a case with Barishal Kotwali police station against five drug peddlers including the arrested two , started drives to arrest their associates, the BMP commissioner added.
