Agriculture Fair begins at Gopalganj

A five day- long Agriculture Fair was began at Poura Park premises in Gopalganj City on yesterday. District Administration, Agriculture Extension Department and Forest Department of Gopalganj jointly organised the fair and it will continuing till 26 August this month. As many as 15 various types of stall, like fruits and forestry set up in the fair. Shahida Sultana, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Gopalganj inaugurated the fair as the chief guest. Among others, Chowdhury Emdadul Haque, President District Awami League (AL) Gopalganj, Mohammad Saidur Rahman, Superintendent of police (SP), Gopalganj, Md. Mahabub Ali Khan, Secretary District AL, Gopalganj, Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Bacchu, Upazila Chairman Gopalganj Sadar, Kazi Liakat Ali, Mayor, Gopalganj Pourashava and Enamul Haque Bhuyan, Divisional Forest officer, Faridpur were spoken at beginning session. Romesh Chandra Bramha, Deputy Director, (DD) Agriculture Extension Department, Gopalganj presided over the function.
Eviction drive on rivers to be launched Sept 1
KHULNA : The authorities will begin eviction drive against illegal land grabbers to protect rivers in Khulna from September 1. “Many rivers, canals and water bodies in Khulna region were occupied by land grabbers. Eviction drive will begin to free rivers, canals and water bodies from land grabbers for ensuring normal flow of water,” an official of local administration told a meeting here. Deputy Commissioner Md Helal Hossain and officials of different organization concerned, among others, were present at the meeting. At the meeting, speakers said many rivers are on the verge of dying as the land grabbers are constructing illegal structures on the banks of rivers as well as filling up canals and water bodies. It is urgent to knock down illegal structures built on the rivers for safeguarding environment through ensuring normal flow of water, they added. The DC urged all levels of the people to extend their cooperation to make the eviction drive successful for recovering illegally occupied lands on the rivers banks and other water bodies, reports BSS.
Youth electrocuted in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: A youth was electrocuted in a shop in Godagari upazila here on Sunday evening. The deceased was identified as Jashim, 18, son of Hazrat Ali of Mohammadpur Joibattola village in the area. He passed HSC examination from Godagari Govt College this year. Jashim’s father said Jashim got electrocuted while working at the shop around 5 pm. On information, fire service members rescued him and took to Godagari Upazila Hospital where doctors declared him dead, reports BSS.
Discussion, prize distribution held at Kishoreganj

Islamic Foundation Bangladesh with Kishoreganj district administration arranged a discussion, certificate and prize distributing among the students and Milad Mahfil, Doa at Collectorate Conference Hall marking the National Mourning Day on Wednesday noon. Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury was attended as chief guest and Police Super Md. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM (Bar) and District Awami League General Secretary Advocate M A Afzol were attended as special guest while Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation Md. Farook Ahamed in the chair. It was addressed among others by Sadar UNO Md. Abdur Kadir, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Sanak Convenor Saiful Haque Mollah Dulu and Awami League Leader Shamsul Islam Khan (Masum). Later, chief and special guest distributing certifcate and prize among the 18th students.
