Hanging body found in Sunamganj

A boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging from a tree at Derai of Sunamganj on Wednesday evening. The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim, 12, son of Arzu Miah of village Zakinagar of Derai in Sunamganj, said police. Rahim’s elder brother Abdul Matin said that they found the body of Rahim hanging from a tree near their cowshed around 7:00pm on Wednesday. They took Rahim to the Derai Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared him dead on arrival, he added. Derai Police Officer-In-Charge KM Nazrul Islam said the victim’s body was handed over to his relatives on Thursday afternoon after completing its post-mortem examination at the Sunamganj General Hospital.
Minor boy drowns in Chandpur

A 2-year-old boy drowned in a canal at Purbo Roghunathpur village under Chandpur Sadar on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Abdullah, 2, son of Sujon Khan of the same village. The victim’s mother Easmin Begum and Police Sub Inspector Mofizul Islam have told the New Nation that when the boy went to the ghat at the bank of the CIP canal, he suddenly slipped and drowned. Seeing the boy floating, the pedestrians rescued him and rushed him to Chandpur General Hospital where the on duty doctor declared him dead. Contacted, Chandpur Sadar Model Thana Sub Inspector Mofizul Islam confirmed the report adding that he went to the spot and came to know the matter.
Offices resume after Eid holidays in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: All the government, semi-government and private offices, including banks and financial institutions, resumed on Wednesday . Aafter the Eid vacation. Attendance at the City Bhaban, the offices of divisional commissioner and deputy commissioner, Rail Bhaban, water development board, sericulture building, RAKUB headquarters, RDA Bhaban, Barendra Bhaban, RMP headquarters and Roads and Highway building was thin as more than half of the officers and employees did not return yet from their native homes. Sources concerned said the offices and courts will take their usual lookfrom Sunday next, after the weekend.However, some people were seen rushing to their respective offices todispose of their pending urgent works on the opening day. Braving the inclement weather, thousands of people, especially children, poured in and around the city’s parks, historic places and other recreational centres to enjoy the Eid-ul-Azha vacation, reports BSS.
Sewing training for transgender in Joypurhat
JOYPURHAT: District Social Welfare Office has launched a 50-day sewing training program for transgender people of the district aimed at brining them to normal life.A total of 50 transgender people in two batches are taking the training under a government project for development of the special section of the society, deputy director of the social welfare office Selim Shah said. During the training period every trainee is getting daily allowance of Taka 300 and Taka 140 for food. Social welfare officials said occupational training programs are helping capacity building of the transgender people, creating scope for being involved with income generating activities. Rehabilitation of transgender people came to light following government’s recognition to them as a third gender. Joypurhat has about 132 transgender people. Shamima Akter Joya, a trainee of the course, said she is now living normal life and carrying the living costs of her parents, reports BSS.
