Certificate of Vocational Training distributed in Gaibandha

Speakers in a function here on Tuesday underscored the need for spreading vocational education to the educated and half-educated poor youths to help them get involved in employment and change their lots as well. “There is no alternative to vocational trainings of different trades to eradicate the unemployment problem of the youths as the trainings are keeping much contribution to creating working opportunities to them”, they said. They made the observations while addressing a certificate awarding ceremony at the conference room of Technical Training Centre (TTC) at Farazipara, an outskirt of the district town, in the afternoon. RDRS Bangladesh and Practical Action Bangladesh (PAB) jointly arranged the function under the project of Securing Employment and Economic Development around Jute Textile and Light Engineering Sector in North-West Bangladesh funded by the European Union. Deputy Commissioner (DC) addressed the function as the chief guest and deputy director of Department of Agriculture Extension Dr. SM Ferdous and president of Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shajada Anwarul Quadir were present at the event as the special guests.
Seminar held in Gopalganj

A seminar on napkin making and distribution programme was held at Sheikh Hasina School and College in Gopalganj on Tuesday. District Women Affairs Directorate , Gopalganj organised the programme where about 200 students including trainees attended the seminar.Md. Azmir Hossain, District Women Affairs Officer, Gopalganj preside the chair & Shahida Sultana, Deputy Commissioner, Gopalganj was present as chief guest. Amont others , Prinkeya Sarker, student, Bangabandhu University College, Gopalganj, Humeyera Akther, Principle, Sheikh Hasina School & College, Gopalganj, Tarun Mondal, Civil Surgeon (CS), Gopalganj, Mahbub Ali Khan, Secretary, district Awami League (AL), Gopalganj were spoken on the occasion. Sources said, under this program, District women Affair audidoptor, Gopalganj will distribute Sanitary Napkin among 800 female students in the district. This programme will be continued till June 2020 from July 2018 this fiscal year.
70 acres T-Aman seed bed set up in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: Agriculture Department has set up 70 community based Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) seed bed in the district to offset the losses of seed by the recent flood. According to Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation supplied 21 tonnes of T-Aman seeds for setting up the seed bed in farmer’s level. The office said farmers prepared T-Aman seed bed on 12 acres on land in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila, 20 acres in Sarishabari, 10 acres in Melandaha,10 acres in Bakshiganj, 7 acres in Madarganj, 6 acres in Islampur and 5 acres in Dewanganj Upazila. The office said 300-kilogram seed were given among the community based farmers free of cost for setting up one acres of seed bed. Beside the farmers were also given other costs like tillage, sowing of seed and plucking seedling. Additional Deputy Director, DAE, Md. Nuruzzaman said small and marginal farmers who lost their seed by the recent flood will get T-Aman seedlings free of cost from the community based seed bed, reports BSS.
