Fake eye doctor held in Chandpur

A fake eye doctor was arrested from New Lions Eye Hospital on Biswa Road at Hajiganj Sadar while he was practising at the hospital on Tuesday evening. The arrestee was identified as Imtiaz Alam alias Emon Chowdhury,37, whose family lives in Dhaka. Contacted, Additional Police Super Afzal Hossain has told the Independent that Police got many complaints from affected people about the wrong treatment being rendered by this fake doctor in the name of eye disease treatment. To prove this allegation and also the doctor’s skill and qualification, a Police man from Hajiganj Thana in the guise of an eye patient went to him for treatment of his eye troubles. His eyes were examined and then he was advised to have his left eye operated upon. A case was filed on Wednesday by Hajiganj Thana’s Sub Inspector Faruque Ahmad against the fake doctor who was then sent to Chandpur Court on Wednesday. The fake doctor was produced before the court in the afternoon. The court sent him to jail hajot rejecting his bail prayer-said Court Inspector Mamunur Rashid.
Two held with 915 Yaba tablets in Naogaon
NAOGAON: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members arrested two alleged drug traders along with 915 yaba tablets from Baliachanda village in Porsha upazila here on Friday night.
The arrestees are Md Motaharul Islam, 36, son of late Abdul Quader of Kalaibari village of Porsha upazila and Md Jashim Uddin, son of late Nezam Uddin of Chaksonatan village of Patnitala upazila. Assistant police super and commander of Rab-5 AKM Enamul Karim said on information, a Rab team conducted a drive in the area on Friday night and arrested the duo, said a press release. They seized the yaba tablets, two mobile phones and Tk 8,245 from their possession, he added. Primarily they confessed to their involvement in drug business, reports UNB.
LGED Chief Engineer visits Kapasia

Chief Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) Md Khalilur Rahman visited the Kapasia Upazila Parishad in Gazipur on Friday afternoon. He was chairman of the Upazila Parishad. Alhaj Amanat Hossain Khan and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mossa: Ismat Ara greeted him. Later, LGED Chief Engineer Md. Khalilur Rahman visited the new complex building of Kapasia Upazila Parishad, residence of Chairman and Upazila Executive Officer, drainage system for drainage of upazila square, upazila residential building and swimming pool space in the upazila premises. During this time, he instructed the concerned authorities to take effective action quickly. Upazila engineer (LGED) Safikur Rahman Bhuiyan and officials of various offices were present during the meeting. Former UP chairman Mofiz Uddin, general secretary Nazrul Islam, Muttaram Maulana Mahmudul Hassan Maruf, Abdul Kabir Masar, Aminur Rashid, Mostafa Kamal, Mosharraf Hossain, Karihata Up Chairman Mahbubul Alam Moral, chairman of the committee, Journalist Saiful Islam Shaheen, FM Kamal Hossain, Shakil Hasan were present.
