Germany marks 75th anniv of plot to kill Hitler

Germany is marking the 75th anniversary of the most famous plot to kill Adolf Hitler, paying tribute to the conspirators who were executed for trying to assassinate the Nazi dictator.
Chancellor Angela Merkel is on Saturday attending the annual swearing-in ceremony for some 400 troops before addressing a memorial event being held in the courtyard of the building where plot leader Col. Claus von Stauffenberg was executed.
Pompeo rejects North Korean charges on military drills

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has rejected charges from North Korea’s Foreign Ministry that U.S. plans for military exercises with South Korea are in breach of agreements between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and President Donald Trump.
North Korea’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday Trump had reaffirmed in a meeting with Kim last month that joint exercises would be halted and the U.S. decision to forge ahead with them was “clearly a breach” of the two leaders’ agreements at a summit in Singapore last year.
‘El Chapo’ enters US supermax prison in Colorado

Fallen Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was locked up Friday at the ADX federal maximum security prison in the US state of Colorado, where he will spend the rest of his days.
“We can confirm that… Guzman is in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons” at the Administrative Maximum (ADX) site in Florence, central Kansas, read a short email from the prisons bureau.
New York man charged with being ISIS sniper

U.S. prosecutors have charged a New York man with fighting for ISIS in Syria and serving as a weapons trainer, according to court documents unsealed on Friday.
Ruslan Maratovich Asainov, a 42-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Kazakhstan, was charged with providing material support to the terrorist organization, including providing training to terrorist soldiers and attempting to recruit personnel.
