Six including three cops sent to jail for cheating

Barishal Metropolitan Magistrate court on Tuesday sent six persons including three police personals, two females and another one of their associates for cheating and colleting toll identifying themselves as members of detective branch of police. The arrested accused were Bellal Hossain, Muhammad Iliyas, constables of Barishal Metropolitan Police, Anisur Rahman Mridha, constable of special branch of district police, Sujan Chandra Shil, Shirin Sultana and Subarna Aktar, their cohorts. Anisur Rahman, metropolitan magisgtrate, rejecting their bail prayer ordered to send the six accused to Barishal central jail on Tuesday noon. Sub Inspector Delwar Hossain of detective branch of Barishal Metropolitan Police, said the accused were arrested after operating drives by DB in Mukjoddha Park, Amtala water tank, Barishal University areas on Monday night. Sabuj Molla, a staff of social welfare department office at Baufal of Patuakhali district, lodged a case against the arrested six accused for cheating and demanding toll with Barishal Kotwali Police station, told Sub Inspector Ujjal Kumar of DB of BMP.
Mobile healthcare launched for flood victims
PANCHAGARH: District administration and district civil surgeon office today jointly launched mobile healthcare facilities for flood-affected people in the district. Debiganj upazila Nirbahi Officer formally inaugurated the healthcare services at a function at Sabujpara village under the upazila. Sources at district administration said several thousands of people of Debiganj upazila were badly affected by monsoon flood caused by heavy rainfall and onrush of water from upstream. Mobile healthcare has been introduced to prevent water-borne diseases in the flood-affected areas, they added. An official of district Civil Surgeon Office said, “We have taken necessary preparation to provide medical service for flood-hit people to avert any epidemic situation, reports BSS.
Boy electrocuted in Madaripur
MADARIPUR: A boy died after being electrocuted at Purbo Botla village under Kalkini upazila of the district on Tuesday noon. The deceased was Asif Howlader, 14, son of Tofazzel Mia of the village. Police said Asif came to contact with a live wear at around 12:30 pm when he was working at his house. He was brought at Madaripur Sadar Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead. Officer-in-Charge of Kalkini Thana Nasir Uddin confirmed, reports BSS.
