Indian edn fair begins in Khulna
KHULNA: A two-day education fair titled ‘SAPE Indian Education Fair-2019’ began at a city hotel on Sunday. Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque inaugurated the fair as the chief guest in the morning. Sanjay Thapa, founder and managing director of SAPE Events and Media Private Limited, chaired the function. Assistant High Commissioner to Bangladesh Rajesh Kumar Raina, Director of Vellore Institute of Technology Dr C. Vijayakumar, President of Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ) Mahbub Alam Sohag, General Secretary of Swadhinata Sangbadik Forum S M Zahid Hossain, addressed the event as special guests. President of Television Reporters Association Mallick Sudhangsu conducted the event. Around 30 schools, colleges and universities of India have set up their stalls at the fair compound. Mayor Khaleque said Indian education fair will open a new era for higher education for Bangladeshi students. Talking to BSS, Sanjay Thapa said, “India is providing not only quality education but also building future of the students at lower expenses than any other countries.”We have also been arranging such fair in Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand and some other countries of South Asia for the last few years. The students of Bangladesh can know about study in India in details at the fair.” There are also opportunities for scholarships and spot admission for Bangladeshi students, reports BSS.
Training on efficient use of Akha held in Manikganj

A training programme on Efficient use of Akha and Extension by the Initiative of CCDB was held at Daschira Hall Room with 30 Akha users and 10 interested Akha users yesterday. Manikganj Agriculture Extension DepartmentDeputy DirectorMd. Habibur Rahman Chowdhury was present as chief guest. Bangladesh Biochar Initiative Policy Advisor M Mahbubul Islam,Project Manager Krisna Kumar Shingha; Monitoring AssociateAdlinaRichelByada, ShibalayaUpazila ChairmanRezaur Rahman Khan Zanu, Ulail UP Chairman Anisur Rahman; Al Leaders Abdul Mozid, Subash Chandra Mozumdarwas present as special guest.CCBD agriculture and seed promotion coordinator Mr. Samiran Biswas moderated the training session. Project Team Leader M. Mahbubulislam said, total 108 families are using Akha (Agriculture friendly cook stove) with financial support by International donor organization ICCO and Kerk in actie.About 2000 housewives and farmers and homestead gardeners have been made aware of Akha and Biochar in ShibalayaUpazila.Training has been provided on the use of Akha about 230 and Training on Crops and vegetables cultivation with Biochar and organic method about 263 homestead gardeners and 127 farmers with the help of Upazila Agriculture Office.
