Indian teenager handed over to BSF after one year

An Indian teenage girl reportedly came to Bangladesh to meet with her lover on year ago, BGB returned her to BSF on Monday night. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) handed Mampi Dutta, 16 daughter of Modon Dutta of Battola Ultadanga in Kokatta over to Indian Border Security Force (BSF) through Benapole check-post. ABM Muhit Hossain, an official of NGO Justice and Care, said that the teenage girl entered Bangladesh illegally one and half year back to meet her lover who lives in Khulna. Later, she was arrested by police and sent to a safe home in Bagerhat through a court.
The Bangladesh authorities returned her following repeated requests by the indian home ministry. Abul Basher , officer in charge of Benapole checkpost police immigration said ,BGB, police and NGO officials of both countries were present during the handover ceremony.
8 establishments fined Tk 83,000 in Rajshahi
Rajshahi: Eight business establishments including a food factory were fined Taka 83,000 here (Sunday)yesterday on charges of manufacturing, possessing and selling of consumer products. A team of Department of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) realised fine conducting raids in different shopping malls and market places in the city yesterday afternoon, Syed Mustaque Hassan, Deputy Director ofDNCRP here said yesterday. The team found the business establishments – Rokon Traders, SM Traders, Hotel Al Farabi, Senorita Beauty Parlour, Friends Emporium, Queens Park and Karushree Plus- involved in preparing, possessing and selling consumer items in unhygienic condition or without any valid permission, prompting it to fine those of Taka 58,000 in total, he said. “Such drive against the violations of consumers’ rights would be continued in the days to come,” he added. Meanwhile, Executive Magistrate Rony Khatun accompanied by Engineer Zunayed Ahmed from regional office of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI) conducted a mobile court in Ruchita Agro and Dairy Food Industries and fined Taka 25,000 on charge of running its business without any BSTI license, reports BSS.
Administration strengthens Bazaar monitoring in Rangpur
RANGPUR: The Bazar Monitoring Committee of district administration strengthened monitoring at markets to stablise prices and standardise quality of essential commodities during the Holy month of Ramadan. Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Shukria Pervin led a Bazar Monitoring Committee and inspected kitchens and grocery shops at different city markets, particularly to stop marketing of 52 banned items by the High Court. The ADM inspected different retail shops, talked to consumers, retailers and traders on prices of essential commodities and ordered installation of price lists and asked traders for selling foodstuff strictly following the display. She ordered retailers and traders at different markets for ensuring smooth business of pure foodstuff ensuring accurate weight without chemicals, formalin and colours and prohibited sales of rotten and inedible food in the market, open places and sidewalks. She also fined a number of shops Taka 50,000 today for producing and marketing adulterated and dirty foodstuff, including vermicelli, at open places and in unhygienic condition. She cautioned the traders and retailers of stern action, including punishment and fine, for violation of the concerned laws and if they were found preserving and marketing of the 52 items banned by the High Court. The ADM called upon traders to ensure reasonable price of essentials and supply pure, dust-free Iftar items and foodstuff and smooth supply of chemical-free fruit, vegetable, fish, meat and other goods in local markets. Executive Magistrate Mehedi Hassan, District Sanitary Inspector Mahbubur Rahman and business community leaders of different city markets were present.
