Price-hike of gas protested

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Ganosanghoti Andolon (GA) in separate programmes at Barishal on Tuesday condemned and protested price hike of natural gas.
In both programmes demanding cancellation of increasing price hike of natural and cylinder gases cautioned that they will start movement taking mass people with them to force the ruling government for cancellation of the price hike. Barishal district (north and south) and city committees on Tuesday separately organized agitation rally in front of their party office at Ashwini Kumar Hall premises of the city.
The programme of the district (north and south) committees held at 10:00 AM was presided over by Ebaidul Huq Chan, district south president.
Open House Day observed

Open House Day was observed at the premises of Khanjahan Ali police station under Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) recently. Md Kabir Hossain, Officer-In-Charge , Investigation (OC, Investigation) of Khanjahan Ali Police station presided over the meeting. Sonali Sen, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (ADC, North) of KMP was present and delivered speeches as chief guest while General Secretary of Policing Committee Alhaj Morol Anisur Rahman, President of Jogipole Union Policing Committee Md. Yusuf Ali Khalifa, Awami League leader Munni Khandokar, UP Member Humayun Kabir, UP Member Fakir Nurul Islam, Journalist Saifullah Tarek, Sayed Jasimuddin, Hossain Ali Howlader and SI Bidhan Chandra Sana (CPO) were present as special guests in the function.
Presidents and general secretaries of Policing committee and women Policing committee of different Wards, elite persons, local common people and different persons of different professions were also present in the meeting.SI Sawkat Mahmud, Second officer of Khanjahan Ali police station moderated the function. Speakers at the meeting discussed about the rooting out of drugs, eve-teasing and extortion. The discussants also discussed regarding the cooperation of common people with policemen in order to remove drugs, violence, sexual harassment ,extortion and all types of crimes from the society.
Interest free loan given to Imams
JHENAIDAH: The Islamic Foundation has distributed cheques for interest free loans and financial supports among 54 Imam and Muezzins from six upazilas of the district here on Wednesday. The cheques were distributed at a function held at the office of Islamic Foundation here this morning. Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation Abdul Hamid Khan chaired the function. Deputy Commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath took part in the function as chi ef guest while District General Secretary of Bangladesh Human Rights Commission advocate Khoda Box and Assistant Director of Islamic Foundation Shakwat Hossain were present as special guests on the occasion. Cheques worth Taka 3.54 lakh were distributed among the Imams and Muezzins at the programme , reports BSS.
HuT-Tahrir member held in Sylhet

Police arrested a member of banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir from the Chouhatta area of Sylhet Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Jewel Ahmed, 26, said Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Jedan Al Musa of Sylhet Metropolitan Police. He added: “Jewel was a fugitive from a case filed earlier with Kotwali police station. He had previously secured bail twice in separate cases.”
He is also accused in four other cases with three police stations.
