Multiple walls collapse in India monsoon rains, 27 killed

Heavy monsoon rains in western India caused at least three walls to collapse onto huts and city shanties, killing at least 27 people and injuring dozens of others, officials said Tuesday, as forecasters warned of more rain.
At least 18 people were killed and 66 others injured when a 10-meter (35-foot) wall demarcating an urban forest collapsed during the night in Mumbai, police officer Sunil Deshmukh said.

Gunmen kill 16 in Niger military camp attack

Unidentified gunmen have killed 16 soldiers in an attack on a military camp in western Niger, local residents and security sources said on Tuesday.
The raid occurred on Monday afternoon near the town of Inates, close to the border with Mali, where Islamist militants are active, and in the same region where an ambush by Islamic State’s West African branch killed 28 soldiers in May.

Australian police arrest 3 over alleged Sydney terror plot

Three men were arrested on Tuesday over an Islamic State group-inspired plot to attack a variety of Sydney targets including police and defense buildings, courts, churches and diplomatic missions, police said.
A 20-year-old suspect had been monitored by police for a year since he returned to Sydney from Lebanon, Australian Federal Police Assistant Commissioner Ian McCartney said. He was known to police in Lebanon.
