4 gold smugglers held with 41 gold bars in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested four gold smugglers along with 41 gold bars worth Tk 2 crore 11 lakh from Amrakhali border area under Benapole Port Police Station on Sunday. The arrestee were identified as Anisur Rahman 24 son of Sowroar Kazi, Reaj Mollah 22 son of Sahzad Mollah, a resident of Khulna district and Sabuj Mredha 20 son of Abdul Mannan and Tanveer Hossain 19 son of Moniruzaman of Faridpur district. BGB-49 Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Col Salim Reja said, acting on a tip-off, BGB members conducted a drive in Amrakhali area and arrested four gold smugglers with the gold bars. The gold bars were deposited in the Benapole customs godown. A case was filed with Benapole Port Police station.
Training on role of medicinal plants held
A training on role of medicinal plants in the primary healthcare was held at Rajshshi jointly organised by Bangladesh Herbal Products Manufacturing Association (BHMPA) and Business Promotion Council (BPC) an apex organization of commerce ministry the programme on Saturday, says a press release. In the training programme Matiur Rahman, Deputy Director of Youth Development Directorate of Rajshahi was present as Chief Guest, it was presided over by Shibbrata Roy, Vice President of Bangladesh Herbal Products Manufacturing Association (BHMPA). Mirza Md. Anowarul Based, Assistant Director of Rajshahi Drug Administration Directorate of Rajshahi and Prof Md. Durul Huda, CPS of MXN Modern Herbal Food Limited were also present as special guests. More than 100 participants took part in the training programme.
Digitised EPI centre launched in Rangpur city
RANGPUR: Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) has launched a digitised permanent centre for expanded programme on immunization (EPI) aiming at turning the city into Model of Urban Immunization. Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa formally inaugurated the EPI centre by cutting ribbon at a function held at City Baban auditorium here on Thursday afternoon as the chief guest, RpCC and health officials said. The Institute of Public Health and Nutrition, Directorate of Health under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with assistance of the Micronutrient Initiative, UNICEF and World Health Organisation extended assistance in establishing the EPI centre. The new EPI centre will maintain modern digitised data base of pregnant mothers, newborn babies, mothers and children of the city with dates of immunization and send SMS before the immunization dates to the beneficiaries to come there for immunization. The EPI centre is the first one of its kind in the country and it would provide immunization services to all registered pregnant mothers, newborn babies, mothers and children of the city with WHO-funding under the government’s a2i programme, reports BSS.
